Agrigento Valley of the Temples

We had seen this on a previous holiday to Sicily but it is always good to see it again. Some of the temples are so well preserved and this time there were more excavations to see.

these monuments are very well preserved and are under reconstruction, everything is amazing, make sure to go with comfortable shoes since there is a lot to walk and also stones etc, the best thing to do is take a cab to take you to main entrance and then you walk you way back visiting all monuments, instead of walking same... I had the privilege of touring Sicily last October, 2014. The tour was definitely one of the most Awesome experiences of my life. My cousin and I loved the tour, the guides, the other tourists. What a Great group. Our guide, Franco Caputo and his driver Maximo, were Superior in every aspect of the trip. The hotels, the food, the... More

the travel guide we had was just unbelievable Franco Caputo was his name I would say the most knowledgeable person of Sicily and the political knowledge of the countryside, we never stumped him ever, his company was out of Rome I believe called retevacanze tours

From Taormina Agrigento is a long drive on a coach. When we arrived our SAT guide marched us off to the temples. One of these temples (Concordia) was quite spectacular in that it was virtually complete and as it was in around 500BC - but we had difficulty keeping up with the guide (as did others|) and often, by the... Nicola from Tradizione Tourismo was a wonderful guide for our all day tour. There were 12 in our group and she arranged a private mini bus for us. Was it great to walk past the big tour buses from the cruise ship and get into our bus and take off wherever we wanted to go. After a brief tour around... More

As part of the tour of the valley of the temples we visited the local town of Agrigento. Not a tourist town by any means , so hardly any stuff for tourists. I guess it was to fill in time. We saw how the other half lives and it seems they are quite poor compared with the tourist parts of... More

I can’t say enough about our recent Classic Sicily trip with Gate 1 travel. Our guide Michela was fantastic!! She was warm, informative and made sure that everyone was accommodated at all times. Our driver Salvatore was the best!! And our local guides along the way: Giorgio in Palermo & Cefalu, “Il Professore” in Agrigento, Lara at Mt Etna, Giacomo... More

I recently travel to Sicily with Gate 1 travel. Gate 1 provided us with a Tour Guide who was Outstanding in every respect. He was so knowledgeable regarding this area. We called him the professor as he spoke of these temples as if he was there when they were built. The Guide talked about everything from plants and trees to... More
