This is an excellent locally (and Hawaiian) owned small tour company who arranged kayak tours of the Captain Cook monument area on the big island. They were very knowledgeable and respectful of both the reef and local culture. We had a wonderful time. No one complained when my wife and I stayed in the water snorkeling this amazing reef a... We lucked out on our kayak tour since we were the only couple to go out on the afternoon trip with Mikai. He was extremely well informed on the history of Captain Cook and a really talented and thoughtful guy--a lot of pono. We learned a lot and gained a lot of insight into the philosophy of aloha. Getting into... More

Had and awesome experience with Aloha Kayak Co. We (my girlfriend and I) originally booked and afternoon tour to the Captain Cook Monument in Kealakekua Bay but unfortunately the surf ended up being too high, Iwa (the owner) worked with everyone to find times that worked for everyone in the group so that they could go on different days and... We were in a group of 6 kayaks in the dark and only one had a light. I felt this was very dangerous since large boats were also in the area. Once in the water, it was difficult to tell where to go or which group was ours- we were promised glow sticks but they did not give them to... More

The night snorkel kayak tour was amazing with Aloha Kayak Co. Typically a bit scary to snorkel at night, however Iwa and his mate made it so easy for a party of 12 to kayak out anchor and help us in and out of our kayaks safely. I did not see the manta rays on my first trip out, however... More

We were so glad we booked our Captain Cook kayak tour with Aloha Kayak Co. When speaking with the owner Iwa, he was very personable and professional and answered all our questions/concerns. The guides for our tour, Jaye and Mikai, were awesome, easy going, and very knowledgeable on not only the Captain Cook history, but other areas/things within Hawaii. We... More

Me and my wife had never been in a sea kayak except for one time when we rented a small glass bottom kayak in Maui. Makai (sp?) our guide was not only knowledgeable but extremely patient. Enjoyed the Captain Cook history lesson in the beginning. Getting into the kayak was challenging due to the swells but Makai made it easy.... More

We stopped into the new shop on the road down to the Kealakekua Bay. Shop only opened 7 days prior. Had a delicious shaved ice and then started speaking with the owner. He is an extremely knowledgable and passionate bloke. He has a photo history of Hawaii around the walls of the shop and the way he told the story... More

Michael was a great guide! Kayaking across the Kealakekua bay was wonderful. Excellent snorkeling at the Captain Cook area. Lots of fishes.

We took the 5 hour Kealakekua Bay and Captain Cook Monument kayak/snorkel tour and loved it! We are a family of 4 with a 10 and 13 y/o, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The snorkeling was exceptional. Only complaint really was the area got a bit crowded when the Fair Wind II showed up with hundreds aboard. Loved the history... More
