The primary reason to use this company is that they have a permit to land at the Captain Cook Monument. While the snorkeling is sensational and well worth the trip, the company was not all that great. There were only four of us on our trip--we were told we would be on the water 3.5 hours and to allow 4.5... More

Tour guide Julie gave great historical background talk for Kealakekua Bay and Captain Cook memorial. Then she lead us on approx a 1 mile paddle across the bay to the memorial. The memorial sits at the edge of a beautiful and pristine coral reef loaded with colorful fish and even a ray. Perfect spot for snorkeling and just the right... More

Chose this kayaking company as they are ranked as one of the top 3 on the Big Island in various publications. If you're expecting just an ocean paddle, you're going to be pleasantly surprised. The "tour" starts off with a very informative but casual history of the Hawaiin Islands followed by a 10 - 15 minute drive to the ocean.... More

We went on a three hour kayak trip to the Capt Cook Memorial. John, our guide was excellent. As a local born and raised on the Big Island he knew lots of history. The trip was outstanding and I would highly recommend using the Aloha Kayak co.

My wife and I took the morning kayak, snorkeling trip to the Capt Cook monument and really enjoyed it. Check in and orientation were quick and informative. Then everyone jumps into their cars and caravans a short distance to the launching point. There were two guides for our group and they did a good job of getting us in the... More

You will not be disappointed... even with the early morning start! Did the Monday morning snorkel a day after arriving on the Big Island. Best jet lag cure and great easy workout. The waters are calmer in the morning and the fish are more active so definitely recommend the morning snorkel. Check in at the shop is very easy to... More

This is an excellent locally (and Hawaiian) owned small tour company who arranged kayak tours of the Captain Cook monument area on the big island. They were very knowledgeable and respectful of both the reef and local culture. We had a wonderful time. No one complained when my wife and I stayed in the water snorkeling this amazing reef a... We lucked out on our kayak tour since we were the only couple to go out on the afternoon trip with Mikai. He was extremely well informed on the history of Captain Cook and a really talented and thoughtful guy--a lot of pono. We learned a lot and gained a lot of insight into the philosophy of aloha. Getting into... More

Had and awesome experience with Aloha Kayak Co. We (my girlfriend and I) originally booked and afternoon tour to the Captain Cook Monument in Kealakekua Bay but unfortunately the surf ended up being too high, Iwa (the owner) worked with everyone to find times that worked for everyone in the group so that they could go on different days and... We were in a group of 6 kayaks in the dark and only one had a light. I felt this was very dangerous since large boats were also in the area. Once in the water, it was difficult to tell where to go or which group was ours- we were promised glow sticks but they did not give them to... More
