Located in the heart of old Muscat city this private museum displays a wonderful array of Omani history and culture. It is pleasing to note that the facility is constantly updated and is always clean, cool and well run with helpful staff. If you are in Muscat don't pass by as you will miss a real gem!

Excelllent displays in series of buildings showing traditional rooms and costumes. Now open all day contrary to guidebooks. Miniature omani village outside which is nice for children. Small coffee shop. Try and go when a cruise ship is not in as gets crowded.

This is a rare sight in Oman... a museum set up by the Personal Adviser to the Sultanate of Oman to showcase his home in years gone by and the traditions of this little known country. Not huge but by all means worth a trip :)

Costly affair if not interested in history. (R.O. 2/head) Nicely organised and beautifully displayed. Check out the ancient Omani house.

Spending serious time here before touring the rest of the country will help you understand Omani history and culture and more fully appreciate the local dress and customs you'll later encounter. All exhibits are explained in both Arabic and English, and signage is so clear that it is easy to navigate to your areas of interest.

I visited without expecting much but was really surprised at how impressive this little museum is. Neatly laid out and well presented. Detailed descriptions of amazing artifacts. Now I understand who the people of Oman really are. Allow about 2 hours at this museum. Also has a coin and stamp section and Islamic section. Well worth the Entrance fee of... More
