One of Italy's hidden gems

I used to pass next to the Reggia when I was a child but never stopped by. Recently I took the chance to visit it, and I must say it fulfilled all my expectations. You can only... read more

I just revisited Colorno, just 12 kms north of Parma, it is an amazing place! This is the heart of the Parmiggiano Reggiano cheese country . The Palazzo Ducale, built by Napoleon for his wife Maria Luisa is just BEAUTIFUL, It has amazingly well kept gardens. Have a espresso on the piazza or ride a bike along the many ciclist... More

our trip from Parma was by public transport. the bus service is very reliable and efficient. The Reggia is a few mins away from the bus stop. The gardens are very well kept and you can walk through free of charge. Thevisit to the palace has to be done by a guided tour. Our guide explained thoroughly the history of the... More

I used to pass next to the Reggia when I was a child but never stopped by. Recently I took the chance to visit it, and I must say it fulfilled all my expectations. You can only visit the interior through a guided tour (don't know whether there's one available in English), which lasts 70 minutes and brings you to... More

Much of the palace is empty rooms, which is explained by two successive plunderings. However, it is worth going if only to see the chapel. We are not religious, but we do admire the artistry. The Englhish speaking (American born) guide was excellent. She made even the empty rooms interesting.

If you love palaces that are rich in furniture, then don't go, as you will be disappointed. Actually, I found that I didn't miss it here. Known as the Versailles of Parma, the reggia is a pretty building, and the guide was really good. Most of the walls have richly decorated walls, so there is a lot to look at... More

A nice park and many events during the year. Good restaurant there around. I suggest to visit during spring, especially when the so called "fiera dei fiori" takes place

In the town centre of Colorno city, close to Parma, you can find this beautiful and very weel kept castle; it is possible to visit it only with a guided tour that costs about 5 euros, value for money I would say because the guide takes you through all the rooms, the astronomic observatory on the top of the building...
