Intimate Theatre

Saw Each His Own Wilderness with the amazing Clare Holman. The production was amazing and was made even better by the intimacy of the theatre. This is a gem.

I just saw Play Mas at this little gem of a theatre in Richmond and was really impressed. It's in the round, which means the stage take centre place, 'in the pit' so to speak. Due to its intimacy, you're right next to the actors and the acoustics are very good. There is a well-stocked bar upstairs and the seating... More

Fantastic venue. Three rows of seats on the lower level which is flush with the actors 'stage' and only one row on the upper level. Really close to the action and fantastic performance. Oh and ... the ice cream is cheaper than other theatres we have been to in the last few years!

My first trip to this very nice theatre. I sat upstairs, where the seats were much more comfortable than many in similar theatres, and I had a good view of the play. However that did not help much as I did not know what on earth was happening in 'Little Light' until the last quarter hour or so.

This is a great local theater away from the congestion and prices of London's west end. We saw a production of Shaw's Widower's Houses. It was well produced and acted, of the quality one expects of theater in London. The theater is set up with seating in the round on two levels. It is small and intimate, and there's not... More

Small intimate theatre in the round. Have visited many times and have always been impressed by the quality and variety of the productions. Small bar , adequate for the size of the theatre. Also well placed to enjoy pre or après theatre dining in the many nearby restaurants.

I went to see the latest play Pomona. It is a really interesting and different play. I have not seen many dystopian plays but this had a really interesting structure which you had to concentrate on. It was beautifully acted. A must.

As it is small, you can enjoy the acting very much as it is so close to see and hear. They have some great plays most of the times.

Go to this theatre quite regularly, and never been disappointed. Even if the play is not to one's taste, there is always a good performance to admire, or an interesting staging to appreciate. The close proximity of the players brings a special nuance to the encounter, which is hard to match in any other theatre in my experience.

I've been going to the Orange Tree for years and I've never been disappointed. The experience is always good -- interesting restaurants nearby and a lovely bar at the theatre. It's very convenient to the Richmond station, on the District line or through the overground from Waterloo. The venue is intimate and the choice of material always interesting. Actors and... More
