+ place to sit nicely laid out. - seagulls after all the food. Screaming kids in the fountain when the beach is over the road.
After living through the whole sea front reconstruction in recent years it's a shame this area has not matched my expectations. It already feels grubby, tired and down at heel. Sat here in blazing sunshine with kids for an ice-cream and takeaway coffee - but did not enjoy it.
This square (locally still known as Pier Square) is far too crowded with queues in the fish'n'chip shop, people sitting and eating, greasy food wrappers, greasy pavement, and the pedestrian crossing takes ages for the lights to change so we wait several minutes to cross to the pier.
We spent most of our days around this area.....we loved watching the activities...there were plenty of places to eat we watched the Harley Davidson motor bikes ...and the Red Bull Motor cross
Love the new look, especially now the planting has matured! Lovely to sit around the fountain, plenty of seating and suitable for all the family!
Not really much to say about this space especially when the sun isn't shining. Sometimes the fountains on and sometimes not. Unfortunately the seating gets covered in seagull droppings so have a good look before sitting down. There is a carousel ride there for the summer and tables/chairs outside the fish & chip shop.
directly opposite the Grand Pier this area has been recently upgraded and is now a much more accesible area for all. be aware it is a shared area so you will see buses and vehicles that have acces but they are only using a well marked lane to travel both ways.plenty of eateries close by including the new Tuttos restaurant... So this is what they built to replace the beach lawns that used to sit here. There's not much to say about it really. It's a paved area full of seating and quite busy on a summers day. It's surrounded by chip shops and bars so it's easy enough to get a drink or something to eat. It's an ok... More
Princess Royal Square is a 'free space' so pedestrians, vehicles etc all share the same space with no pavements etc. it is an accident waiting to happen. Some nice seating areas and it is nice and flat so easy to access
Eat, relax, enjoy the fountain and the views. A short walk from the Grand Pier and the seafront. Lots to do and see from this location.
