Since its refurbishment it is a lovely place to enjoy the sunshine. It overlooks the beach and has loads of sitting areas and outside cafes. Very wheelchair friendly. Also close to all the amenities of the seaside town.

This square is the hub of the promenade with logjam traffic, people sitting around with eating, and a queue a hundred yards long for the fish 'n' chip takeaway. Obviously the pavements are slick with grease and not very safe at all. Lots of rubbish, i.e. takeaway boxes etc abound, and the litter bins overflow and never seem to be... More

This area should have been grassed over completely, the fountain put in a central position and seats placed around the outside. But what have we got? Buses still allowed to drive through the area, amusements during the summer and a mess of concrete and grass. Another missed opportunity for a town trying to climb up the greasy pole to be... More

The square as a great atomsphere with the children play in the foundation and the area is very clean, the chip shop on the corner is a prefect way to sit and enjoy

I often walk home from work this way and I understand what the planners were trying to achieve by opening up this area and it is an improvement on the previous traffic island. There is now much more pedestrian area, and quite a lot of seating, and the views from the nearby cafes are somewhat better. It is a pity... More

I assumed this was a pedestrian area but you do have to be careful busses also use this space which is a shame because on a sunny day this paved area would be quite a pleasant place to sit and while away an hour or two

Lovely views of the beach but the seating area is dismal. Could be better but it is used for good events.

+ place to sit nicely laid out. - seagulls after all the food. Screaming kids in the fountain when the beach is over the road.

After living through the whole sea front reconstruction in recent years it's a shame this area has not matched my expectations. It already feels grubby, tired and down at heel. Sat here in blazing sunshine with kids for an ice-cream and takeaway coffee - but did not enjoy it.
