Dined here Thursday evening on the recommendation of our hosts, as travelled out of season so many places closed. The food I have to say was excellent in both quality and quantity as well as really good value for money. Hubby ordered scallops to start and seafood linguini as a main with side of garlic bread. I ordered muscles to... More

Great place to visit, 2-3 hrs should be enough time to visit the jail. Please beware there are stairs which are quite steep and uneven floor..

The buildings are imposing and impressive and the restoration work that has gone on is obviously extensive and well executed. The contrast between the museum and the still ruined Naval Prison is stark and strangely romantic. The mainstay of the museum is dioramas supported by text boards. I enjoy reading and taking my time in museums but I did feel... More

Welcome and service was really good.. nice place and decent atmosphere.. pint of carlsburg was nice and crisp, however presented without a head and not quite full.. starter of muscles was very nice.. however the butter for my bread was very hard and embarising to spread onto the bread as it was practically impossible. Steak cooked well to my preference... More

Really wanted to go here and didn't think the entrance price was unreasonable, however, we were only in the prison for just over an hour. Maybe because it was low season but there wasn't a lot to see. It was interesting reading the stories but i wish there was more to interact with to spend more time there. Had a... More

This is a difficult one.. The location is strange, the decor and layout of the restaurant has just watched time slip by and it is attached to a spooky cold old prison - the welcome of the 'execution shed' doesn't help - BUT... The food was very nice. Served hot and tasty and in just the right quantity.. A little... More

I grew up in Cornwall, taking my wife and young son for a first visit she was adamant that she wanted us to visit the jail. I'm glad we did, very interesting building and history, lots to see, well worth a visit. Afterwards we ate in the bar/restaurant huge potions and excellent value for money.

I decided to head to Bodmin jail as these types of attractions interest me (Like castles, I like castles very much). Pretty easy to find, there is a car park on site with a car park a 5 minute walk away. You enter through a restaurant/bar which had me question if I was in the right place. Entry was £8.50... More

It was at the request of my 4 year old son that we visited the jail, it was easy to find and quite a surprise to see how close it is to houses, before the visit I had imagined a creepy place in the middle of nowhere, but its completely surrounded by houses, not that it detracts from the building...
