Enjoyed our visit although the older members had trouble with the steps and reading the info about the exhibits as the lighting is quite poor. I think some areas could do with a rethink and more info provided with better access but I would absolutley visit again, maybe on a ghost hunt!!!

Dark, damp and cold - probably just how you'd imagine a jail should be but the attraction needs updating for the 21st Century. The models are like the dodgy waxworks you see in the papers and for a lot of the exhibition it is too dark to read the signs. It's not cheap £30 for a family ticket but if... More

I really can't recommend this attraction. It should be so good, but just isn't on almost every level. You pay for entry (£7) at the bar of part of the building that is now a pub. The pub could be great. It could be filled with appropriate memorabilia & be in keeping with the history of the jail. It isn't.... More

Just visited Bodmin Jail with my son (22) and his girlfriend and my 86 year old father and the attraction satisfied three generations of visitors with varied interests. Not suitable to those with a problem with lots of steps, it is quite chilling, literally on a cold winter's day, but also metaphorically, to see the harsh conditions and sentences meted... More

Great for reading and seeing some history. However a fair few parts were taped off due to falling down and being dangerous at the time, little pricey we thought. But even still killed half hour of our time

Good couple of hours looking round ruins and renovated bits of old gaol......lots of info provided and encouraged me to go home and learn more about the history of Gaol. Cost £7.50 to get in...but was worth it. Dogs were allowed inside as well!!! Spooky and interesting...probably quite unique. Had evening meal in restaurant as well. Food was nice and... More

Lots of history if not a little spooky. weather was bad so headed here. Was really interesting to hear about some of the stories of the people who were imprisoned there. Took about half a day to look round,

Visited September 2014. Very interesting old place although didn't like having to walk through people having their lunch to get into the prison. Whilst I liked reading information outside each cell, I do feel that more effort could be made to made each placard the same I.e. Same font (that is readable -I really struggled at times) and layout. It's... More

Visited on a Saturday afternoon in January and plenty of other people visiting also. £7.50 each entrance fee which was fine as money goes back in to doing up the jail. (Crowdfunding could be an idea) Its a self tour and you are advised to start at the bottom and work your way up. Personally I think it would work... More
