The bottom floor and the childrens wing i found the eeriest and couldnt wait to leave either of those floors felt like i had to escape fast! My partner found it scary too and hes a 6ft... More

this is our 3rd time visiting Bodmin Jail. Each time there seems to be less to do. 1st time we went there were interactive things to do on some of the floors which have now disappeared. This time we went they have opened up a new part but it kind of spoils the effect of the jail as the walls... More

It is worth a visit if you are fit! Bear in mind it is an old gaol spread over 5 floors with tight spiral staircase! Very interesting information provided throughout. Some of it still in its run down condition which adds to the attraction as you can imagine how it looked (although some of it suffers from being used as... More

We visited on a foggy day which added to the atmosphere . Really enjoyed it . Lots of info to read about the history of the jail&the inmates . There were quite alot of people visiting & this slightly spoilt the atmosphere but it was half term so to be expected. We are going to book an evening ghost hunt... More

We liked it. Plenty of reviews on here find minor faults, which is fair enough, but given it is a very old building it WILL be dark, cold and dank in places. And it will have stairs. All adds to the experience in my view. I think they have done a good job with what they have. If they add... More

Visited with my 10 yr old son. Alot of it is inaccessible due to old age and decay but from what theresis you get a good idea of what went on there. Some if the rooms could do with a clean up as there are 21st century rubbish with 19th century exhibits ! Other than that a good place to... More

It was quite strange going through a modern bar/resturaunt to pay then go into the jail from here. Much of the jail is unaccessable as in ruins but on the whole very interesting facts. It's just a shame that it isn't kept maintained as many of the exhibits had litter crisp packets etc which is a shame people have no... More

We had an enjoyable visit to the Jail, unfortunately we can't speak for the restaurant as we had already made plans that day, but walking through the bar / restaurant it certainly looked and smelt very appealing! The jail itself is a fascinating slice of history, however couldn't help but feel it's been a bit let down - upon entry... More

We visted here after reading a mixed review. I think that they are currently doing some work on the museum as there is a lot of tools and empty rooms etc. It was amazing to see the place and how it was, I though whoever had the idea to make a feature of known people who had served here into... We found the ideal for a cold windy day in Cornwall. Bodmin Jail. Parking and entry is free; allowed us to follow an excellent potted history of life in the1800's.The events are written in small story lines around the macabre cells, of events, and heavy punishment meted for the misdoings of the day. Totally absorbed the whole family. We only... More
