A simply beautiful forest and surroundings. We went to Dalby to explore the Gruffalo trail but this was unfortunately closed as a rally event was taking place. No matter, the lovely staff recommended other walks that were nearby. To be honest, these were probably even better than the original walk. Our son is only 3 but the trail that we... More

Did the Gruffalow Trail with my grandson and dog and it was a nice walk with things to spot on route. The amenities were good and the food fair priced which was a bonus.

Pickering showground hosted the event gathering hundreds of people dressing in 1940’’s period clothing and military uniforms. There was lots of military re-enactment groups camped on the fields who also put on a spectacular German / Russian WW2 war display. The showground also acted as the park and ride facility to travel the short distance to the small town of... More

This is a gret loction for walking - would suggest you walk from Thornton Le Dale as the toll road into the forest is very expensive. Parking in the village and walking across the fields makes a pleasant introduction to the forest.

A really good outdoor place to visit, at the time had a few activities for the children on, which was enjoyed by both children and adults alike.

Great place to visit but would be improved by better track signage. Easy to get lost in such a big place.

If you enjoy a Crocque Monsieur you may well be in luck at the Cafe in the Visitor Centre. But if you prefer to eat brown bread you need to take your own food. No mayonnaise sachet was available either for our visit on 29th September, only salad cream. I left wondering if it really was 2014 or was it... More

We went to watch my husband and friend take part in the GoApe tree climbing. They really enjoyed doing the activity and we enjoyed watching them. We them thoroughly enjoyed the Gruffalo trail with the children and the well thought out play park. Great family day out. We'll be back for more trails and possibly with bikes too.
