My husband and I visited today with two grandchildren age 11 and 9. We had booked for the batlle show as web site gave impression the experience may not be suitable for younger children. On arrival we spoke to a memeber of staff who went to great lengths to explain about the battle experience. Our youngest grandson was not very... More

We are National Trust for Scotland Members and as such did not have to pay an admission fee, but if we had I would say it was well worth it. The technology used for the exhibits is really good and helps bring the whole thing to life. We did not play the battle game, we just watched the show. The... More

I was expecting a wonderful new centre like Culloden, but this fell far, far short of that. I hated the quirky little films with weird figures, which seemed to trivialise the history. The 3D experience was really enjoyable but where was the serious explanation of the battle? We played the game and although we had studied the computer instructions beforehand,... More

We visited the centre on 25/6/14 and found it very interesting, i also liked how it catered to both adults and children. I know the 3d cartoon like puppets and little video may not be to everyones liking but i think how it has been done is great easy to understand! Then going into the room and you get to... More

Having visited the old visitor centre we were looking forward to seeing what had been done. We arrived and found a very small car park where we struggled to get a space, although we noticed that the spaces were clearing and being filled very quickly. The reason for this became apparent later when we realised how poor the centre actually... More

We not only toured this modern media visitor center but also attended an re-enactment of the Battle of Bannockburn where Robert the Bruce defeated Edward 11 of England in 1314. We walked among the Scots and English camps and enjoyed this 14th c experience that occurs every 100 years!!!! Scottish 1400 food and music AND READINGS AND DISPLAYS etc etc... More

as NTS members we didn't pay to visit this attraction, and having been to the superb Culloden site we were excited about visiting here. Fortunately we had watch the tv programme on the battle only a day or so earlier, otherwise I doubt we'd have had much idea about what happened. On the day we arrived the computers were 'down'... After visiting Culloden we were expecting a similiar experience. However we found the interpretive center to be lacking. Felt like we were watching cartoons. The grounds were nice and the memorial up from the center was well done. Not good value for your money.

Externally this new building look as if they were short of the bricks on the front and no obvious entrance when the automatic glass door is closed. Staff were friendly but seem to be confused about the booking procedure. How can a single WC in the gents cope with a bus load of kids. Yes there is an archaic trough... More

I was expecting an educational and informative visitor centre similar to that at Culloden, but I was to be totally mistaken. £11 per adult is very expensive for just a few minutes of presentation. The first stage is a 3D movie - I don't think they could have produced a poorer example of an educational 3D film if they tried.... More
