Fun day out

Weird and surreal, but great fun! Kids enjoyed it - aimed at younger kids. Water Show was great, and loved that you didn't need to pay extra for rides once you were in.

We loved this place more and more each time we go, it's great to look at, stunning gardens, love all the old antiques, there's loads to do! And did I mention the stunning gardens! Nice friendly staff aswell. When you pay to get it you feel like you've been robbed a bit but after spending an amazing day there it's... More

I don't have that high expectations of "family" theme parks but this exceeded them. Enough to keep us busy all day but no more.

Visited with my wife and 5 year old son while camping close by. My wife had been as a child and enjoyed herself so it seemed logical to take our son. The castle collections are weird and very interesting! The theme park itself is very good. Some areas are a little dated and some attractions were out of order however... More

My wife and I took our two children aged 3 and 5 to this attraction. We found it to be unusual in part (a feature including a man sitting on a toilet who when you open the door tells you to go away and a scene from Snow White in which she resembled a witch and the dwarfs, goblins). There... More

Went here 4 years ago with our 2 daughters and loved the quirkiness of the place. So we returned with our girls now 11 and 6 and our 3 year old son. We still thoroughly enjoyed it. It may not be for everyone but we loved the fact that it's not a commercialised theme park and has retained its British... More

Not a bad day, but not outstanding. Just a bit hit and miss. Our Kids are 90cm (we now know!) so we paid full price for both to enter, they are 4 and 5. Not all the rides are available for all heights of kids which is a little disappointing. You will also need £10 in 10p, 2p and 20p... More

We visited as an extended family, with a 14 month old child. We spent about 2,5 hour at the Castle, and while the Gnomeworld and tilting rooms etc are vaguely entertaining, I think to fully enjoy the facilities, you need to have kids in the 5-12 age group. The gardens are lovely. The food at the cafe was pleasant.

If the stern animatronic mannequin operating a Victorian hoover doesn't do it for you, or the longest tube slide in 1988, or the robot organ tableau, or the fountain display ending with the National Anthem (I went to stand but I think I may have been the only one) perhaps the wonders of this place are lost on you. Like... More

Very hilly. Castle which isn't a castle. Castle filled with freaky objects. Beautiful gardens but rides poor & limited. Very dated. Won't be revisiting

Thanks for your review from your visit almost 12 months ago. As we are in North Devon, and also set in a natural valley there are indeed some hills. We like to think it adds to the beauty of the grounds and surrounding areas. We don't try to pretend that the building is something that it's not. Watermouth Castle was... More
