We spent a lovely morning here and our 9 year old loved it. It's an amazing house with a fascinating history and wonderful furniture and fittings. Top favourites for our son were the helmet from the Spanish Armarda with a spear hole in it and the room were they discovered a skeleton! The tour was great but I'm afraid I... More

Easy to get to, set in lovely secluded grounds. Worth the extra for guided tour - guide very informative - who knows you may see a ghost! Maybe I'm biased - but think the ponds too overgrown - water in places becoming stagnant. They could become a focal point, if cleaned up and stocked with fish.

Very attractive house, pretty garden with stream. The guide gave us an excellent tour, full of historical information and tales of ghosts, complete with hair raising atmosphere in one of the bedrooms! Lovely cream tea in the tearooms.

We tried to visit Chambercombe Manor twice - the leaflet in the hotel said that it was open on Saturdays, but when we got there it was closed. The sign outside said it was open from 12 until 5.30 on Sundays, but when we got there at 3.30, there was a sign in reception saying "guided tours only today, last... More

We walked to and from Chambercombe Manor from Ilfracombe, bit of a trek up hill but we made it. Had a very nice snack in the tea rooms before joining the tour of the Manor. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept us interested with all the ghost stories and history of the people who had lived there. There are... More

Looking for something to fill a couple of hours, we though Chambercombe would be worth a try. We loved it. The manor is beautiful, and stuffed full of unusual objects and furniture. You can see how the house literally grew up around those who lived there over the centuries. But the visit was made truly memorable by our tour guide.... More
