My daughter and I hiked parts of the trail so that we could work on the Cateran Trail Geocoin. LOVED the parts that we were able to hike. It is well marked and every day was a different terrain and view for us. I was very glad to have my hiking poles as the terrain can be tricky on some... More

The Cateran Trail is over 60 miles long and I have only walked small parts of it, but it is worth it. It give the visitor a huge range of experiences of this part of Scotland and some stunning views. It gives you the best of Glen Isla and Glenshee, plus cruises by places like Forter Castle and Bamff Estate.... More

Party of 4 walked the trail at the end of May over 5 days; starting at Bridge of Cally, completing the circular part of the walk and then on the last day walking from Bridge of Cally into Blairgowrie and then out to Alyth on the alternative route. The scenery, countryside and route exceeded expectations. The route is probably the... More

Very manageable days, although finding accomodation for 8 was a bit of a problem, not helped by the Spittal Hotel being closed. The scenery on the walk was absolutely beautiful and very varied.

This was a tough walk on a very sunny day, from Blairgowrie to Bridge of Cally and back, around 16 miles and mostly uphill on the way there. Very well signposted. Beautiful scenery and countryside. We had a much needed and lovely lunch at the Bridge of Cally Hotel, staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Beautiful views, a (mostly) well marked path and varied terrain. Lots of pubs along the route to quench your thirst. One of the lesser well known long distance routes, so not as busy as the West Highland Way. A fantastic holiday.

It is well signed and passes many local towns leading into the Cairngorms. You can access it at many spots and is mostly dry with some stunning scenery. Suitable for all abilities but not suitable for buggies etc. The cattle rustlers have mostly gone these days.

We walked the 6/7 miles from bridge of cally to blairgowrie, really lovely walk (wear boots and don't be afraid to get dirty). Also try out the blue bell wood walk, ardblair trail and knockie path/trail. All are a few miles each in length around blairgowrie and lovely.

We had a great hike in mid-September. However, at this time of the year make sure you book early as we'd left it to a couple of days before and due to the pub in Glenisla being closed there was nowhere to stay. We had to get our B&B in Glenshee to shuttle us back and forwards for a couple... More
