Milntown is set in over fifteen acres of beautiful gardens in the North of the Isle of Man, near Ramsey and is one of the Island’s most historic houses. Originally the home of one of the leading families on the Isle of Man -the ‘Christians’ - Milntown has also been a school for young ladies and a hotel. More recently it once again reverted to being a private house owned by Lady Edwards and subsequently her son Sir Clive. Upon his death, in 1999, a Trust was created to maintain the house and gardens for the benefit of the Manx people, in line with the wishes of Sir Clive. Milntown House is open for tours each Wednesday and Saturday from April - September. Garden Tours are held monthly, please visit our website for further information regarding tours and other events held at MilntownMilntown also has a restaurant that can cater for up to sixty private diners or an elite fine dining experience for up to 14 guests in the old Milntown dining room. Larger numbers can also be catered for with a bespoke marquee in the stunning garden.

The gardens are spectacular and really peaceful to walk round, we particularly enjoyed the woodland walk. The tour of the house was very interesting and the tour guides John and Shirley do a really good job of giving you as much information as they possibly can about the history of the house without it getting too boring or tiresome, we... Lovely peaceful gardens. A real joy to walk around. Really impressed by the various carvings of dinosaurs and mythical creatures. We had lunch in the restaurant which was also excellent and very reasonably priced. A really good day out.

We got married at Milntown last weekend and had just the most amazing time. Louise and her team were flawless with everything laid out in advance as per our discussions, excellent service, delicious food and a spotless indoor and outdoor area. The gardens were in full bloom and looked fantastic, providing a spectacular backdrop for the photography and the estate... More

While not a large estate, Milntown House is a nice spot for an afternoon coffee and tour around the gardens. There is a good bit of variety in the landscaping of the grounds and in the plantings. Interesting sculptural features - especially in the Woodland Walk.

Milntown is a Garden & Café/Restaurant for most of the week but on selected days, you can tour the house. We made sure we went on a day when we were able to tour the house as this is what we were really interested in. The house is owned by a trust, and volunteer run. Not many people seem to... More

Many thanks for your lovely comments and feedback regarding the House Tours, We are sorry that you felt kicked out, we are on the TT course and have to close promptly during that period in case anyone gets trapped in. We wouldn't want our visitors to have to spend the night in the Island's most haunted house! Regards Vicky at... More

When we visited late morning on a Saturday virtually all tables were reserved for lunches that looked very appetizing. We only had time for drinks which were served by very pleasant and smiling staff. Would love to return in about a month when the spring flowering bushes are aT THEIR BEST

Our waitress " Katie" was excellent in every way.She didnt hesitate after we said that one of the meals was far too hot and she changed the meal to another one without hesitation. The service we had was excellent ! I hope as the season is in full swing that they have a bigger choice on the menu.

Thank you for your lovely comments and taking the time to review Milntown on Trip Advisor. We will also pass on your comments to Katie. As the season progresses we certainly plan to extend our menu and will always have season dishes often made with produce grown here on the Estate. We do hope to welcome you back soon. Regards... We do hope to welcome you to Milntown this year. I am afraid that currently dogs are not permitted on the Estate unless they are guide dogs. We do hope that this will not prevent you from visiting our lovely Estate. Best wishes Vicky Crellin More

Good food in the lovely setting of a beautiful garden. The restaurant has views onto the garden and some of the vegetables come from the garden. Unique on the Isle of Man. Well worth a visit.
