We were lucky enough to pick up on the last tour of the season. As passionate theatre-philes the tour of this beautiful Frank Matcham theatre was fascinating, informative and comprehensive. Our guide was steeped in the history of the building and made the hour and a half whizz by. The highlight of our 4 day trip to the Island.

We've been to see several shows at Gaiety Theatre and have always been impressed by the building (and the shows!). The theatre was built in 1899 within the structure of the former Pavilion to the designs of well-known theatre architect Frank Matcham, as an opera house and theatre. But you don't need me to give you that sort of history... More

Very informative tour about the theatre, especially going under the stage to look at the Corsican Trap, and the bit about Most Haunted (always knew they were rubbish). Recommended.

We went on a tour of the theatre with a most enthusiastic guide and then in the evening went to "Sunset Boulevard" which was brilliant.

Theatre tours take place at 1000 on a Saturday morning and need to be booked in advance. I booked mine at the Welcome Centre at the ferry terminal on arrival and was glad I did as a fair few people turned up on the day and had to be turned away. The auditorium is absolutely beautiful and going backstage with... More

The theatre offers backstage tours both for groups and for individuals. We went with a group. It lasted over two hours and you saw lots of excellent features of the theatre and features of its operation and restoration. Very enjoyable.

What a truly beautifully restored Victorian theatre..so much has already be said in these reviews and all very true!! We saw Sunset Boulevard - a great production of this somewhat sad story. Sarah Buckley (Norma Desmond) and Damian Kneale (Joe Gillis) played fabulous roles along with the rest of the cast. Sorry that will not be around for the theatre... More

We saw a show at the theatre that was very well staged but it was the decor of the building that impressed even more. I understand that you can visit the theatre and be shown around and would recommend this to be able to appreciate the architecture of this fine ornate building.

What a fabulous historical theatre! Not only did I attend the festival, I partook in the theatre tour which was fascinating. Very envious!

Fantastic architecture and cosy atmosphere. Often have travelling version of West End shows but pre booking very easy on line.
