Super experience, not too expensive either. Took the train from Douglas to Port Erin. Had a compartment to ourselves.

Just loved the whole experience, How the engine looked standing at the station; the different style of carriages; the sound of the wheels on the tracks; the smell of the smoke; and finally what it feels like to be a passenger while travelling though the beautiful Isle of Man countryside.

Apart from being part of the 'heritage transport' in the Isle of Man, this railway is very useful for getting to places in the southern end of the island. We'd bought a 5 day Heritage travel pass so used the train rather than the buses wherever possible.

I think a trip on the steam train is a must for visitors to the Isle of Man and it was one of the highlights of my trip. Everything is so beautiful from the train itself to the little train stations that the train stops at. The scenery from the windows is absolutely stunning.

The station in Dougals has a great cafe and the journey to Port Erin is relaxing and pretty. If you are going to travell on other forms of transport on the Island it is cheaper to get a travel pass which you can buy at most attractions

I'm not a particular fan of steam trains for their own sake, but we wanted to travel from Douglas to Port Erin and this made a change from the bus and takes hardly any longer. Seemed to be very well run with historical information to interest the enthusiast. Views were pretty and pastoral rather than scenic and breathtaking. The fare... More

Steam is always a winner for me; this line has sea views to one side and hills to the other, pretty stations and plenty of places worth a break of journey. It's all there!

A great trip on a narrow gauge steam railway from Douglas to Port Erin and return. Good scenery and very pleasant staff and the rolling stock - engine and coaches, were kept pristine. Enjoyed it so much. we went twice!!
