It can bring back memories or make new ones for the younger passengers... beautifully kept engines and they do 'specials' too... my favourite has been the Wizard Express that took my grandsons to the Isle of Man's very own Wizard Castle School... with the 9 3/4 station and the half vanished luggage trolley and more!

The steam railway has been operating since 1870, and you can almost feel yourself transported back in time, there's no heating, well not in the carriage we were in, the engines are immaculate and it's obvious that the staff and volunteers devote much time to them. Now only 1 line, Douglas to Port Erin, the route is not spectacular (try... More

Travelling on the steam train is comfortable and hassle free. The kids will love it and so will the grandparents and those in between! It is a lovely way to see the Island at a leisurely pace. There are plenty of stations to alight and have a look around.

Great engines and rolling stock, real steam atmosphere. The rails were lifted during the installation of the whole island sewerage scheme, the pipe fitted under the tracks, hence they have been relayed, now notice and smooth. Worth checking the press for special events on the railway.

Relaxing chug down to the South of the Island. A real step back in time and an escape from the rush, rush of our normal lives. All the carriages were authentic will beautiful upholsted seats and clean individual carriages.

This is a great scenic trip to the south of the Isle of Man, get off at Port Erin and have something to eat in the Falcon's Nest Hotel, try the real ale here and in the Bay Hotel next to the beach. Head back to Castletown and visit The Sidings next to the station before returning to Douglas. This... More

Travelled from Douglas to Port Erin going back in time in the old little carriages through the countryside stations with some lovely sea views along the way. A must for steam enthusiasts
