Wherever we go on holiday we always like to try out the steam railway - not least because they are usually dog friendly (only 30p for the dog to travel), and we like to have a cup of tea and toasted teacake in the café between journeys. We weren't disappointed with this trip either. The carriages are well maintained, and... More

The new oyster-like card works well especially for visitors like me. I paid for three days travel on steam railway, electric railways and buses. Great value, all for £32. Each heritage service has its own charm and appeal. Staff are helpful knowledgable and friendly. Some better linking / timing of services where interchange could be made (eg bus link from... More

I live on the Isle of Man and I know the transport system very well. For anyone visiting I'd suggest they buy an Island Explorer ticket. Armed with this they'll have access to bus, steam rail and electric rail services. The steam railway will take visitors from Douglas to Port Erin, where they'll find a wonderful town and beach. The... More

From the oldest electric railway in the world to the narrow gauge steam trains and the horse drawn trams, the Island is a living history of Victorian transport. Incidentally we also have the TT, the fastest and most historic motorcycle race ever, so we ain't just quaint.

I bought a day bus pass for a look round the island. although some of the services were infrequent I found the staff to be really helpful. managed to get round to all the main towns in an easy day. Some of the bus stops were just outside the main town centres but a short walk probably did me good.... More

I have always found the staff on both the bus and train journeys very helpful and polite. In general everything runs on time, clean and well maintained. We are retired so the manx bus pass gives free travel on train and bus. There is a café in Douglas Railway station and again at Port Erin serving excellent food.
