I had a 3 day visitors pass for the bus and rail network which worked as a really good value for money. I purchased this from the tourist information desk in the airport arrivals. I found I could use the network to get just about everywhere I wanted during my visit and journey times were reasonable. All the buses were... More

For our week-long sojourn on the Isle of Man, we bought a six-day transport ticket and enjoyed unlimited steam and electric train rides and modern bus trips across the tiny island. For a steam tragic like me, the narrow gauge steam railway from Port Erin to Douglas and return, hauled by an 1874 locomotive, was a highlight. This train runs... More

The steam railway from Douglas to Port Erin is fantastic railway with some lovely views from the line and lovely heritage engines pulling the trains. Each engine used on the line is one of the original ones from when the railway was first built back in the early 1900s and have been well restored so they are still able to... More

Buses all very new and punctual to their timetables, regular services all over the island. Electric railway from Douglas to Ramsey a must for the enthusiast of Victorian engineering. Steam trains to the South are an experience. Best value is the £32.00 three day explorer ticket with which you can have unlimited use of ALL buses, trains and trams

Bus services on the island are good and reasonably frequent and run well into the evening. All the buses we used were within a couple of minutes of their scheduled time. The rail services, both steam and electric were enjoyable and nostalgic.

For the most part IOM Bus and Rail works well. The buses are usually clean (except sometimes first thing in the morning) and on time (though not always). An additional express service to the south of the island leaving at 5:30 (rather than 5) would be a good idea. The steam railway is a nice historic feature for the island... More

Had a great time riding the steam trains and the electric cars. Used the bus service also to explore the island I had the Island Explorer ticket 34£ for 3 days and could use all transports even to the top of the mountain. Great service!

I love public transportation, and the Isle of Man bus didn't disappoint. We took the bus from Douglas to Peel and back to see the castle. It was cheap, comfortable, and right on time. We also took the steam train to Castletown to see Castle Rushen and then on to Port Erin and the bus back from there to Douglas:... More

Probably the highlight of our trip to the Isle of Man was taking the steam train between Douglas to Port Erin, where you sit in small, cute wooden carriages while the train slowly chugs through beautiful scenery, with the coast on the left and green rolling hills stretching out on the right. There's loads of stops on the way if... More

This was a real trip back in time to the days of the old steam railways. We went from Douglas to Port Erin passing through lovely countryside and excellent views of the coast (sit on the left hand side of the train leaving Douglas for the coastal views). Everything is beautifully preserved and maintained. On arrival at Port Erin we... More
