The hardest thing about visiting Shanklin Chine is actually finding it - the signage is poor, but if you head to the lowest point of the main street it's down a kind of alley heading towards the sea. The walk down the Chine itself is a fairly short so take your time and enjoy the picturesque waterfall, gorge and bridge... More

We took a trip to Isle ox Wight and visited this place. It's very nicely located next to the sea side and the walkway is very scenic it has two entrances you can either work your way down (easier for elders) or walk up to the top. With the waterfall right at the top end. They have a souvenir shop... More

You really need to be fit to walk through the chine as there are steep steps and hills. We had been before and so were prepared. Full off history do take the opportunity to read and watch the dvd about PLUTO

We visited the Chine whilst staying at the local Shanklin Hotel (Don't bother!!). We found the walk through the Chine very pleasant. The pathway gradually makes its' way down to the beach, and would not be too demanding even for those who have mobility problems. The exit at the bottom is next to the Fisherman's Cottage public house, another pleasant... More

Good to go to nice walk to look at the fall . Not good for prams or wheelchairs. £4 each for adults. Beware though it said it closed at 5pm but they were closing at 4:30pm. As we were coming out there were some disappointed people not able to get in.

I would recommend this as a visit. Yes you have to pay to get in but that is just to help pay for the conservation of the place, if it was free the entire Chine would be littered with rubbish and the plantlife would be devastated. So, I'm happy to help contribute towards it's conservation and thoroughly enjoyed my walk... More

An attraction in Shanklin since the beginning of the 19th century, many famous visitors found the chine moving and atmospheric. The only "down" was that my wife didn't much like caged birds.

A walk to the sea front with a difference. walk down from Shanklin old town. Pass through an enchanting glade/ canyon full of native plants with a stream running through it. At the bottom of the walk you are well place for a choice of two pubs selling quality local beers.

lovely to visit in the evening all lit up. nice to visit in the day and to stop for afternoon cream teas. If you go in the afternoon and are there at 4 (even if you are leaving at 4) you can request a pass to come back the same evening to see it at night. ( we only learned... More
