Shanklin Chine

Well worth a visit a bit of a stroll but worth the visit, one negative not good for disabled people. Worth a visit a night time to see it lit up.

We arrived at Shanklin thinking that we would stop for coffee and a meander through the streets looking in the shop windows. We chatted with a couple of shop owners and on our way back to the car found Shanklin Chine. It was just beautiful. No traffic and not many people at that stage. We looked through the tree tops... Visited as a family of four. Our children found the walk and plants very interesting. The waterfall at the top leads down to a lush garden, fishermans hut and the Shankin sea front. I think the price paid is about right. There is clearly a great deal of up keep to such a place and it needs to be preserved.... More

In addition to its natural beauty, the chine has historical significance. There was a pipeline going through it that carried fuel from the mainland via IOW to Europe to supply the Allies in WWII. It's call PLUTO.

An overrated garden. Quite expensive for what is there. They have a bird section.... Of birds which can be found in a house? The waterfall was pretty poxy - but I think I expected a lot more from the photos id seen.

Steps lead down to a more flatter walk way.the water cascades down to the sea, follow it whilst listening to the birds and nature and it brings you to a pub on the beach. Wouldn't pay again tho, didn't think it was worth the money.

Nice to visit this place again having a lovely stroll down from the old village ending up having refreshing drink at Fishermans Inn at bottom.

Like: Very pleasant walk very pretty waterfalls & greenery Dislike: I think the cost to enter is too high at £4.50 when there are free beautiful walks else where

We visited the chine on the way down to the beach on a sunny afternoon. It wasn't my first time as a visited as a teenager but I never really embraced its beauty until this visit. Yes it is a little expensive but I'm sure the money goes towards the up keep on the chine which should always be preserved... More
