both kids and us adults loved exploring this place and really engaged in the whole experience. When the weather is good you could literally spend the whole day there. One thing in my opinion that would make the folk part slightly easier to follow if the route was numbered all the way along it,although u do get a map it... More

I suspect I am one of many who hadn't visited here since my school trip days. Since then it has changed a bit but is now an even better day out. The site is beautifully laid out. The places to see are plentiful. The staff are all superb. We also had light lunch in their cafe which was comfortable and... More

As we visited with a young child We were very disappointed that we could not access a lot of the carriages and very few of the trains. On the lower levels none of the trams or buses were accessible and most of the cars were behind ropes. Even the shop was closed. If you do visit please don't waste your... More

We really enjoyed going back in time, a great place to visit. The staff, all dressed in period costumes were brilliant, and so knowledgeable. Glen Cross (the policeman) really knew his stuff.

We visited here on our way from the airport to the north coast. It was very good and was well worth the entrance fee at £11 for both. Unfortunately we only managed the folk museum in 3 hours so would need a whole day for both of them. All of the exhibits were well signposted and the map was informative.... More

Not a huge amount of information available but nevertheless, it kept the grand children happy for a few hours. Transport Museum was probably the more interesting side but The Folk side was okay to. Probably better done without small children. Prices are reasonable. Take stout walking shoes if it's wet.

The transport section is all indoors, so was great for a rainy day. Brought our 6 and 7 yr olds. This museum has so much to see and it is very hands on. There is something for all the family. Highlights included the huge train museum, where you can go in a first class, second class and third class train... More

We visited on a wet Bank Holiday Monday and had a great time. It is not open on Mondays except Bank Holidays, which included 13 Jul 15 this year. All staff were very friendly and eager to tell us about their area of expertise. The site is packed with a mixture of replica and original buildings with useful historical insights.... More
