Went on steam train with my mum and was amazing. Very comfortable inside with velvet seating and the view was lovely especially by the water. We then went on a small boat across to Dartmouth where we wondered around and very pretty too and people very friendly. Very picturesque and were lucky with the weather.

You need to be either rich or a proper steam enthusiast. Its not cheap. BUT, the carriages are well renovated and maintained and the route is a delight along side the river Dart. Been there, done it. didn't buy the T Shirt

We had a river boat trip from Totnes to Dartmouth, then took the ferry to Kingswear to catch the steam train to Paignton. There are several places to eat in Dartmouth, so you can easily make a day of it.

At least once a year we take the steam train from Paignton to Kingswear and the ferry across to Dartmouth - the scenery is spectacular and both destinations are simply charming with many bars/restaurants & shops in Dartmouth. why not cruise up the river Dart to Agatha Christie's holiday home (now run by National Trust) for even more nostalgia and... this appeal sounds good ,and it should be, but is far too expensive, reduce the prices, especially to locals, and tourists with big families, stop making it for the rich, and make it to run/break even, understand all volunteers, but come on be fair.

A wonderful trip on the train pulled by the Lydham Manor steam engine. Lovely scenic views across Torbay and the River Dart at Kingswear, the ticket now includes the ferry across to Dartmouth.
