The ultimate boat trip on the River Dart!. The Kingswear Castle is a coal fired side paddle steamer. Now running from Dartmouth on harbour cruises and an excellent cruise up the beautiful River Dart to Totnes. We went on a day which started off quite wet but there is a canopy on the main deck to keep you dry while you... I lose count of how many times I've been on the Steam Train and over to Dartmouth on the ferry. Each time is wonderful, great views of Torbay then further along the river Dart. The other services such as the boat trip down the Dart is very funny and has some good facts to pick up. The Round Robin which... More

A trip for those into nostalgia I think otherwise a rather slow and expensive trip to Dartmouth. However at peak times you can avoid the traffic queues and parking has improved in Kingswear since our last visit.

It is like going back in time to board the Steam Railway at Paignton and chug along to Kingswear, then get the ferry to beautiful Dartmouth. If required, you can sit in the rear viewing carriage which is a bit more luxurious and has good views all along the route. Well worth a trip!

What a gorgeous step back in time. Took train from Paignton to Dartmouth with 3 children. Kept them interested & amused the whole journey. A really memorable experience & quite relaxing for me as a parent. Will do this again. Good value & excellent service

We bought a two-day Jubilee pass from the ticket office at Paignton station. Remarkable value at £26 each. Although valid for two days travel you don’t have to use it on consecutive days as it is valid for any two days in the next seven. When first purchasing your Jubilee pass you should book your travel plans for that day,... More

Four of us got a Round Robin ticket which started in Totnes. We got the open top bus to Paignton which connected with the steam train. We were tempted by the viewing carriage at the back of the train - you pay £1.50 extra for a seat there. However, we walked further up the train and found a nice carriage... More
