We met as a group of friends in the cafe at the Gala theatre in Durham on a wet day. The cafe is clean and very well stocked with good food and snacks, and the staff member made us very welcome. She did not at any time make us feel we should move on. It was such a pleasant experience... More

The theatre is easily accessed by public transport or car. It's located in a square with plenty of places to eat and drink. The theatre is small and cosy, the bar is reasonably priced and they provide plastic glasses. However, the theatre is pricier than provincial theatres but, hey, it's Durham.

Our favourite theatre in the North East. A perfectly sized gem all the seats give a wonderful view of the stage and are extremely comfortable. The classic murder mystery was brilliant a great night out 🎭🎭🎭

A good stand up comedian that's up and coming. Only paid £5pp and would happily go to see him again to see how he's progressing. The venue was very clean and tidy, with helpful staff.

This was my first visit to the Gala Theatre in Durham City to see Mousetrap. This is a modern and very popular venue which also incorporates a cinema and small cafe. On this occasion my seats were in row A ( Front Row ). While I had no real problem with these seats when booking you should bear in mind... More

My husband and I visited the Gala again this week to see "Absent Friends" The stage is a decent size for such a small theatre and the seats are more comfortable than most venues we go to. The bar staff are very pleasant and we were served quickly. My only complaint is the "ladies" I feel this facility could do... More

We were visiting durham for the day however the weather was awful so we decided to see a film. There is very limited choice as is only a small theatre however we found something to watch. The tickets were reasonably priced, as were the food and drinks which we were pleasantly surprised at as our local cinema charges a fortune.... More

Full marks to the Youth Group production of Phantom of the Opera last night. Exceeded my expectations. Professional and very impressive. Loved it. Bravo.

This is a good place to go to. We saw a Comedy Show. The Gala is a new build and also has a cinema there. There is a large entrance hall with toilets just off it, leading onto a bar area, which even has a good outdoor bit for smokers or when it is warm. The staff are all brilliant... More
