Went to the museum as part of the WW1 anniversary. As my grandfather was in the DLI. The layout is brilliant with very knowledgable staff

Good museum telling the story of the Durham Light Infantry with an adjacent contemporary art space which has a programme of interesting exhibitions. The building has a café and shop and is set in a nice large park which is good to walk in and/or is a nice walk from the town centre. It is about 10mins walk from the... More

I can't recommend this place highly enough. I visited on a wet weekend in October with a tough crows to please, namely 3 sons aged 14, 12 and 7. They absolutely loved it. Why? Most museums don't allow touching of the exhibits. This place is different; hold the guns, put the helmet on, sit in the jeep and armoured vehicle.... More

We have visited the DLI many times and although the exhibitions are rarely changed what is there is really good for both old and young. The grounds of the museum are also great being a nice place to walk around during summer.

I visited the museum with my 84 year old father the staff were very friendly and helpful. The exhibits tell the history of the DLI with real accounts which brings it to life. The uniforms and medals are amazing. We did not visit the gallery. The cafe provided welcome refreshments with homemade cakes
