I have visited the museum several times and on each occasion I have had a splendid time. I would highly recommend a visit to the museum if you are in or around the Durham area. its just a shame that there are plans to close this wonderful museum.

We spent nearly 2 hours enjoying this well presented museum detailing the history of the Durham Light Infantry. There were only a handful of visitors, most of which were in the café, which is probably why the museum is intended to close sometime in 2016. Situated in the attractive grounds of the County Hall we left our car in the... More

This is a fascinating Museum that provided a quiet, thoughtful moment to remember how so many paid with their lives to defend our way of life. Well it was quiet until our five year old companion spotted the costumes to try on and the truck to pretend to drive. On the top floor of this Museum we found the spacious... More

This muesum is spread out over two floors covering the history of this fine Regiment up to 1969. There are a lot of medals on the first floor and interesting things to look at. Ive heard that this is going to shut in the next 12 months, I was the only visitor at the time, it is a shame that... More

This is an amazing museum. Beautiful grounds lovely little restaurant and most important a building full of interesting WW1 and WW2 memorabilia. Loads of stories about ordinary people from the north east who went to war to fight for there country. Let's hope it's always there to remind us of these brave men and women.

This is a little gem of a museum which has great links to the brave men of the North East. If you visit Durham it is worth finding and taking a look.

We often visit here on a Sunday afternoon in the summertime. Sometimes we take a picnic and sit at one of the picnic benches and other times we have an ice cream in the cafe. The grounds are very pretty. There is a pond( keep an eye on young children!) and last time we saw several baby ducks with their... More

We took out 3 dogs for a lovely walk in the grounds around the museum. Had a look around the museum then a nice cuppa and snack in the cafe. All in all a lovely afternoon out . I cannot believe that DCC are going to close the museum and sell off the land ! More expensive housing ?????

Both my Grandfather and his brother were DLI in WW2 and sadly were killed in Kohima and at Primisole Bridge. This is a fantastic museum and well worth a visit. Highly reccomended if you are visiting Durham.
