I have always loved the DLI museum, and the grounds in which it sites are equally as fabulous. If you go for a visit they have a café where you can enjoy some tasty food or there is plenty of grass for a picnic if the weather is good. The museum itself is very interesting and is set out in... Lots of interesting things to see and learn here. The area outsode of the museum is tranqual you wouldnt realise you are so close to the city centre and the cafe is lovely and has recently been refurbished. One of durhams best kept secrets a real hidden treasure.

An exhibition that is well put together and the use of artefacts actually used by some of the characters mentioned actually brings events to life in a very tangible way. There are dressing up costumes for the children too.

Having read so many good reviews on here i decided to take my family. The only good thing here is the price £10.50 for a family. Upon driving up to the place you first notice just how small it is. You cannot hold rifles as they are all bolted down. There is only 2 helmets to wear and only one... More

Just returned from an afternoon visit with my wife and 5 year old grandson. I have visited years ago with my daughters and thought he might be a bit too young but he loved it and ran around dressed as a soldier. Staff friendly and exhibits are there to be touched, felt and sat on which is what kids love.... More
