a bargain to be had

Only a small indoor market but what it lacks in size it gains in friendly stall holders, plenty of bargains and a good place to eat or have acuppa

This is a cosy indoor market that has something for everyone and a cafe upstairs if you feel like a break. There is a a nice friendly atmosphere about the place and with a lot packed into what seems quite a small area - a bit like the TARDIS. A very enjoyable visit.

Durham market can be variable, but the two major highlights for me personally is the cheese and game stall near the smaller entrance and the spice stall down at the back. Quite a small market but with a wide range of goods for sale. Really good atmosphere and well worth a visit for that alone. Not as big as some but it still covers most areas of interest. In the centre of Durham it is very well situated for a visit.

This old Market has a great mix of individual stalls, where most city centre shops are all boring multiples, or banks and charity shops, it's very exciting going into the Market. They have top class fish counter, game counter, butchers ( with the best pease pudding ) curry counter, and many more it's a credit to the Market as Durham... More

I really don't understand why people are rating this low because it "doesn't appeal to young adults". Some people need to open their eyes to tradition and culture. This is a huge indoor market in the heart of Durham where locals can try and make a living off their own backs and good on them. The market has been the... More
