This is a good old-fashioned indoor market full of character and packed with interesting stalls. It makes a refreshing change from the usual boring mixture of shops that are encountered in every high street throughout the country.

Visited here a few times and it's different to the ever changing face of Durham both modern and historic. The market offers something different to shoppers and is undercover. It is situated in the city market square. Worth a walk around.

I always like to come here for a look around. There are loads of interesting stalls here from food to hardware, clothes to collectables. Definitely worth 20 minutes for a look around even if you don't buy.

If I lived in durham I may visit this place to get certain items. When I go to these markets I would like to pick up some odd items which I cannot find elsewhere. Apart from a handful of stalls there are a lot of everyday items. Some appeared to be closed/shut at 14:00 Watch out for the medieval stall... More

Very ordinary market stalls with a lot of tat. We didn't find it worth the diversion from a wander round the old town.

We were told we should visit the Town Hall to see the relics of Count Borulaski, a Pole who was only 39 inches tall and became a celebrated violinist. We were given a grand tour by Frank one of the receptionist who was very enthusiastic and proud of this amazingly old Town Hall with many different items of interest, especially... More
