We visited the hall and gardens on Sunday to celebrate a special birthday for my grandmother. The booking service was great - although be aware you have to pay the full amount when you book. The gardens are beautiful, my grandmother who had returned from the Chelsea Flower Show only the day before, commented that they rivalled the gardens there!... More

A absolutely fantastic place to visit. The gardens flowed through to each other. An joy to visit. The bedroom was superb When looking at the menu it looked expensive but what you get is very good value for money. Will definitely go back when in the area

First ever visit here, won't be the last. Stunning gardens, lots of nooks and crannies and plenty of places to sit. The hall is fascinating. We had booked for afternoon tea, and were seated in a delightful panelled room in the Georgian part of the house. Tea was served on fine china, everything delicate and delicious. Can't wait to go... Take the children with you as there are always exciting things going on for the children and the young at heart. Not far from the multi story car park within walking distance along the banks of the river. Lovely little cafe with a good choice of meals at great prices. The Hall itself is amazing and the guides clearly enjoy... More

Variety of gardens, beautifully kept and lots of inviting seats to spend time on as you wander around. Definitely worth a visit if you want tranquility and colour.

This lovely house and garden is a hidden gem, close to the city centre and boasting stunning views towards the Cathedral. We loved the way many of the rooms in the house were set up as ;period tea rooms, and of course the cake was as good as it looked!

Thank you for your comments. We are proud of our tea rooms up in the main hall. We serve very popular Sparkling Afternoon Teas. We also have our normal cafe menu. We now have a lovely new cafe as well where we serve those delicious cakes which you so enjoyed. Thank you again. More

We have lived in Durham for 30 years and. This was our first visit. The recent cold weather means the gardens are a little behind but even so the gardens and house were a delight to wander around on a sunny warm Bank Holiday Monday. The Pirates and Princesses activities for young children were clearly very popular but the young... More

Thank you. I am glad you found us. You came on our busiest ever day. I was delighted our service had not suffered and that despite the many little pirates and princesses you managed to see everything a visit can offer. We look forward to welcoming you again. You may consider a season ticket which are reasonably priced. More

I discovered this garden by accident during a spare afternoon in the North East. The sun was out, it was late April and the garden was a very impressive space. Vibrant, healthy young foliage was evident everywhere and the atmosphere of calm and spaciousness so close to the centre of the city was wonderful. There is clearly work continuing throughout... Thank you. I was so pleased you stumbled upon us. I remember your visit as it was a day we just had the gardens open. When the hall is open there are some lovely views of the walled gardens and the city beyond. The same week you were here we featured in the guardian in the top twelve gardens in... More

My sister and brother in law had told us about this hidden gem quite a few times over the last few years and so, when we visited them last week, we asked could we all go to Crook Hall and, despite having been there so many times themselves, they said "yes". It's just a short walk from the city centre... More

Thank you so much for your feedback. I bet your relatives were pleased you had so enjoyed yourselves . I am often surprised how many people from our locality visit and wish they had come along when they first heard of Crook Hall. The amount of third year students at the university just wished they had known of us in... More
