Our visit was long over due, so we made the most of it. The house was nice to look round, seeing how people lived near old Durham. Gardens were ever so peaceful, we sat not speaking, just taken in the peace for a while. Then we chat watching the rabbits and such just running around as though we were not... More

I booked on a group tour with the 'head gardener' & was disappointed there was so little information about the garden/design & planting. The tour was by the owner who openly admitted he is not a gardener. It was nice to visit the gardens but I would have preferred to have gone round by myself.

I still cant believe this peaceful place is in the middle of durham city centre, its a lovely way to wind down and relax! Also the afternoon tea is well worth a sample, especially the infamous scones that are freshly made on site! Anyone looking for a wedding venue should also condiser Crook Hall, we married here in July last... More

Cafe is outstanding. Excellent tea and cakes, and the tapas is good value with huge portions. Salad is beautiful. The gardens are amazing and beautiful and inspiring. Wonderful planting, great sense of history and so calm and tranquil. Don't take my word for it. Please, just go and see for yourself.

We chose to drive to Crook Hall which was reasonably easy to get to providing you concentrate as you have to turn off . There is parking on sight with a machine to pay or you can walk from the town . Immediately as you enter you can get a coffee and refreshments , then it's on to the gardens'.... More

Crook Hall and gardens has been one of my favourite places to visit in Durham - a city not short on attractions. Beautiful at all times of year. I've always enjoyed the afternoon teas in the courtyard, or underneath the trees, and now....there is a new visitor centre/shop/cafe at the entrance, with a lovely terrace at the back. A good... Thank you for your kind words. We are delighted with the new cafe. We had certain teething problems which have now been resolved such as the coffee. The cakes are to die for as are the scones. We have such wonderful staff and they all help yo make a visit memorable. More

Went with my mam and 2 year old daughter. The gardens are beautiful. My little girl loved running about and exploring the maze. She even saw a real toad which she still talks about. We had a cream tea and it was lovely, all home made and the seating area was clean and welcoming. The staff were lovely, very professional... More

My family and I came to Crook Hall for afternoon tea to celebrate my Great Aunts 80th birthday. The whole afternoon went very smoothly considering there was 13 of us. The food was beautiful and they catered to my needs as a nut allergy sufferer excellently. The afternoon was polished off by a lovely stroll around the gardens.

We are delighted you enjoyed your visit . It seems an ideal venue for such celebrations. I am pleased you had such good service. We always ask if there are any dietary requirements when the booking is taken. It works well. I am pleased you took time to wander around the gardens as it is all part of the experience. More

This medieval manor house has a range of small gardens attached all of which are delightful. There is an interesting maze near the entrance and also a small cafe selling refreshments.
