I found this attraction on Tripadvisor and as all the reviews were so positive I decided to book a champagne afternoon tea there for my aunt who was celebrating a special birthday. We were not disappointed, in fact having had several afternoon teas this year I am happy to report that this one ranks in the top 2. Crook Hall... More

Absolutely lovely gardens surrounding a sweet house. A hidden gem in Durham's heart. Will be back again.

Crook Hall house and gardens is a nice, relaxing place to visit and while away a few hours if you are visiting Durham as it is within easy walking distance of the city centre. Although not overly large, the gardens are well-kept with a variety of plants and flowers on show with plenty of seats throughout to pause on. The... More

Crook Hall was recommended by the host of the B&B we were staying in on our first visit to Durham and we were not disappointed. What a beautiful place! The gardens are stunningly beautiful and so tranquil; we sat for ages by the pond relaxing. You wouldn't think you were in a bustling town. The house is steeped in history... More

I've been to Crook Hall several times as it offers excellent value for money and is a real escape from the hustle and bustle. Today I visited to treat my friend to the 'Sparkling Afternoon Tea'. It was certainly a treat! Beautifully presented in a lovely room, with views out over the gardens and distant cathedral. The 'sparkle' was lovely... More

Thank you for your kind comments. I am delighted you enjoyed your Sparkling Afternoon Tea. We will be serving them all through the year and as the winter approaches they will be served in our beautiful Georgian Drawing room with views of the Castle and Cathedral. We take such pride in preparing and serving these teas and also the various... More

Visited here with family during Durham Flower Festival. I really enjoyed it here, it really is a hidden gem just a short walk away from Durham city centre. The Hall is great and steeped in history, the gardens a real accomplishment. Got some great photos here. Free parking on the roadside outside the attraction on Sundays.

This is a wonderful place and the tea rooms/cafe are wonderful, along with the staff who are all so helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about its heritage. The buildings are amazing along with the gardens, all steeped in history. It is not disabled friendly unfortunately but Maggie and her team will try to accommodate you however they can. Well worth a... More

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are so proud of our staff they have all embraced the place and in turn are always pleased to share these wonderful surroundings with our many visitors. The historic layout does make it difficult for wheelchair users. There are gravel paths and steps and some areas are easier to traverse than other areas.... More

Visited Crook Hall today, superb location, beautiful grounds and Hall. Scrumptious lunch, though I didn't expect pork pie on the ploughman's, I ate the cheese my husband ate the pie!Maze great for adults and children alike. Gardens exceptional. A lovely day, money well spent.

Crook Hall + Gardens, Durham. Good value and a lovely place to visit, the Hall itself is beautiful and is very informative on each room. The surrounding Gardens are much to admire, a really pleasant setting. Good photographic opportunity.
