The gardens are wonderful to wander through; the house is a trip through time, from the 13th to 18th centuries. Really pleasant.

A lovely cafe with garden views and outdoor tables would be nice in warm weather. Soup was a slightly odd flavour. The house at Crook Hall is well worth a visit - a mixture of periods and decor and the grounds are a series of themed garden 'rooms' that must be beautiful in spring and summer. The second tea room... More

Lovely house and gardens to enjoy with a history and apparently a ghost. They also have a lovely café now before you get to the house. They have different events on throughout the year for all ages and I especially like the open air plays in the gardens. Definitely recommend this place for a visit at any time of the... More

Fabulous hall and beautiful walled gardens to visit - and the opportunity to sample amazing home cooked food, I highly recommend the cream scone teas! Check opening times as sometimes closed to the public as they hold private weddings.

Came here one miserable Sunday afternoon and it certainly brightened the day up :-) The cafe is superb - lovely food and crockery! The sweet potato and butternut squash soup was absolutely delicious. Hall is lovely too...so many lovely rooms with roaring fires to wander around and sit in. We will be back when the weather is better to explore... More

The city of Durham has a lot of things going for it, but this is one that many visitors miss. Tucked away off the beaten track, the house and gardens are a tranquil attraction with occasionally brilliant views of the Cathedral and Castle, while the cafe offers great value. It's not exactly Chatsworth, but if you're in Durham and like... More

Just a shame it was winter, would like to return in Spring/Summer to see the flowers. Had a pot of tea in the tea room, which was pretty.

My wife and I attended my friend's wedding here on Sat 9th January. From start to finish, this was the most amazing experience! Smiling attendants were waiting to greet us in the car park and escort us through the quaint fairy lit pathways to the stunning Old Hall, comprising various 'olde worlde' rooms, each with their individual aura. Coats were... More

What a lovely review . I am so pleased you were able to find the time to provide the feedback. You have described the event so well. Our daughter's wedding the week before had been equally magical and will always remain such a wonderful memory. Thank you again. We hope to welcome you again. More
