One of the most atmospheric, intriguing and charming places to visit and take tea in Durham. Lovely gardens, the medieval wing especially is unforgettable, and the staff are really friendly and clearly love the place as much as we do. We liked it so much we're holding our wedding reception there!

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and thank you for your feedback. We have one member of staff who was married here. Our daughter is getting married here on New Years Eve, our son was married here a number of years ago. Three of our staff have close relatives who have been or are going to be married here. So you... We've walked passed so many times but encouraged by the new coffee shop we thought we'd try it. So glad we did. The gardens were beautiful and well worth a visit by themselves but the house was a pleasant surprise. Very interesting. Altogether a relaxing experience in the heart of the city and so photogenic. The coffee was excellent, best... More

Thank you for finally popping in and visiting the Hall and Gardens. Your comments about our coffee and cakes as our team have worked really hard to source a good supply of coffee and most of our cakes are homemade. We hope to see you again. Thank you for your feedback we really appreciate it and we hope you your... More

We thought Crook Hall was somewhere near the little ex mining town of Crook further north in Co. Durham, we were very wrong its quite within walking distance of the centre of Durham City. What a charming, really old place it is - lovely ancient gardens and the hall itself going back into history. We ended our visit with an... More

What a charming English country home with beautiful grounds and gardens. My wife is a flower fanatic and I believe she knew the name of every flower in the gardens including fern and flowering trees.I think she could have spent the whole day there. You really need to look in every cranny of the gardens as there is so much... More

What delightful comments. All the way from the USA and it was your wife's favourite place in Europe. Thank you so much such a fantastic accolade to all the hard work our gardeners and our other staff do to make the place so welcoming. I will be telling them all about your feedback. Thanks again. Although on my door step this was my first visit. A lovely garden to stroll around with plenty of seating to sit and enjoy the views. A very enjoyable light lunch served by pleasant staff. A lovely day shared with my wife, I would recommend this to anyone with a few hours to fill when in Durham

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased you spent a few hours in our Hall and Gardens and delighted that you would recommend others to visit. I am so sorry you were disappointed that you were unable to visit our Hall and Gardens and you had tried to find us a number of times. The local council has spent a considerable amount of money in the last few years on new pencil signs giving directions to all the key landmarks of the Durham City. I am... More

Just a short walk from the town centre and we found this hidden jem and its not just for adults. Its a nice relaxing walk around the many different gardens and it offers a nice café for refreshments in the old hall.
