Spent a great afternoon here. Just a 5-10 minute walk from the centre of Durham, just passed the Radisson hotel, Crook Hall is a beautiful 13th century house and has stunning gardens. The gardens themselves are individually themed and include a walled garden, an orchard, a large moat pool, the Shakespeare and Cathedral gardens, the silver and white gardens and... More

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am so delighted you enjoyed your visit. It is an ideal visit if you are staying in any of the city centre hotels and as you say it's almost on the doorstep of the radisson blu hotel. Hope the rest of your visit to our region was so enjoyable More

Durham isn't really a great tourist city. It has a wonderful cathedral and a castle. (Well, sort of--the castle is the university.) Unlike, say, York, those are the major attractions. Not too many other top attractions. That makes Crook Hall and gardens more important than it would be elsewhere. There's a Jacobean-era home, but it's not full of artifacts or... More

Thank you for your feedback I am so pleased you enjoyed our gardens and our staff were so welcoming. We are certainly no stately home but the Hall is a very important, grade one listed, an example of medieval domestic architecture. I can quite understand if you were looking for something rather grander then it does not fit the bill. I... More

This was my first visit to Crook Hall. It is slightly out of the centre but within easy walking distance. The gardens have been lovingly landscaped with a moat pool at the top and Solar and Shakespeare gardens. Each part leads to the next and there is great variety and lovely touches of individuality with statues and sculptures. I particularly... More

Thank you so much for your feedback I am delighted you enjoyed your visit so much. You may want to know that the picture frame was an idea of one of the gardeners. If you look at our facebook page you will see a wonderful photo of Roger the gardener and some horses all through that frame. Thanks again for... More

My wife & I visited Crook Hall I fell in love with it! I could't believe I did not know such a pretty place existed within walking distance of Durham City. Beautiful gardens and the hall is also worth seeing. There is a super cafe with a roaring fire going. The weather was prefect, the staff always with a smile... More

Crook Hall and Gardens is easily located following road signs from Durham town centre. The gardens are located and overlook the River Wear. There is a car park adjacent to the entrance of the gardens which costs £2.20 per day. On the day we visited (15th March 2014) the entrance fee was £4.50 per person (free for children). All proceeds... More

Thank you for your lovely feedback and your support for a well worth cause. The number of daffodils at this time of the year do tend to crowd out the other flowers. I always feel you have to look more carefully to see the primulas.camellias and other spring plants. I agree with you that as the weeks March on the... More

Having come across Crook Hall by accident when searching for a place to have afternoon tea for a mother's day treat, I was so thrilled with the perfect setting over looking the gardens, the delicious homemade cakes and the attentive but not overbearing service, it made this occasion extra special, and I would highly recommend it for any celebration.

I am delighted you had such a lovely Sparkling Afternoon Tea. We are so proud of these. We have been compared favourably with Claridges and the Ritz which along with your comments make us feel it is all worthwhile. We also believe in offering a high quality experience along with excellent value. I am so pleased that you agree. We look... More

Lovely gardens and walled gardens with interesting cottage garden plants, helpful and friendly staff with small but interesting building. Good cafe with light lunches, snacks and afternoon teas. On the Saturday we visited all the entrance costs were being donated to charity. Will visit again in summer when gardens are said to be very colourful. Local art and gifts for... More

This gem of a Hall and gorgeous gardens are a great place to visit whilst in the area. There is a super cafe with a roaring fire going and sections of gardens to enjoy. Plenty of seats in the garden to relax and unwind.

We visited here during a recent stay in Durham and it is a beautiful characterful little place. From the maze where you first go in, to the wonderful gardens on each side of the building, this is an enchanting place. There was a mad hatters tea party on for the children too, with crazy characters running around which all added... More

Thank you for your feedback. I am so pleased you enjoyed our event so many people come along to these events throughout the year. They are so popular. Yes the chimney has given us bother in the past.
