Have visited many times over the years and we love coming here!! Traditional seaside town without the tackiness of some resorts. When the new apartments started to appear we were a bit apprehensive but we think they have actually helped Westward Ho! get back on its feet - it was in danger of dying on its feet- and have breathed... My family and I, six of us had a two hour lesson with the North Devon Surf School on saturday the 30th sept. We arranged a private lesson and I think it was John who was our instructor. We had a warm welcome, he quickly fitted us with our wet suits and boards and set about teaching us the correct... More

Frankly we - family of 4 with Teens and dog - stopped off here on our way back to Woolacombe from Clovelly just for a nosey around. There are some very nice new property developments along the front and some nice looking restaurants but Westward Ho still seemed to us be a bit in the doldrums like a lot of... More

Westward Ho beach is beautiful, wide and long and has really good conditions for surfing, my teenagers thoroughly enjoyed themselves and so did I, Westward Ho is a small town but has excellent Devon pasties in many shops and you can find lots to do in the locality. I would recommend it.

We are fairly regular visitors to North Devon and enjoy Instow, Croyde and Saunton etc but decided to head over towards bideford - we read a few reviews and decided to go to Westward Ho! Glad we did, really great beach, amusements were cheap and really fun for our 4 year (winning sweets and prizes) and great cafe/eateries. And it... More

It looks like they have tried very hard here and have built apartments overlooking the sea as well as spending money on lots of other area too.We visited here after a day at Cloverly and all wish we had stayed here for the week.A real traditional English seaside resort with a fantastic beach, which further up becomes dog friendly,as well as... Really don't like giving a negative review but to be quite frank, we will not be coming here again. It was raining when we got there and I wish we'd have just gone somewhere else at that point. After reading other reviews about this place, I may be guilty of not giving the place a fair chance as the beach... More

Rustic, fresh and clean, vast expanse of space! Ideal for a picnic - be careful of the sheer drops!!

We came here for the first time and were amazed you can take dogs and let them run on the beach beyond the lifeguard hut (via Northam Burrows), The beach is clean and gently sloping, with clean warm water. At the back of the beach is a steep pebble hill (LARGE pebbles!). The car park is £3.50 per day and... More

Safe beach, plenty of family-friendly bars and restaurants, stretches of the South West Coast Path to explore, all manner of accommodations, a couple of small supermarkets for the essentials and usually, a bracing breeze.
