Hubby has great difficulty walking and we have not been out walking together for more years than I care to remember. However, the National Trust is providing all-terrain mobility buggies called Trampers on some of their estates and that has made a real difference to us. We visited Arlington Court in North Devon having pre-booked a Tramper the previous day.... More

We took advantage of the free historic day - if we were paying it would have been £25 for two adults plus our almost 3 year old son. I think this is quite expensive so would be worthwhile looking into annual national trust membership (only £75 for a couple at the moment). The grounds are very beautiful - our son... More

I allowed 2 and a half hours for the visit, but more time was needed, so much to see and do. Visit the welcoming house with its amazing contents showing very clearly how the family lived and travelled. The fantastic walled garden, grounds and of course the carriages. Did not have enough time to sample the food in the stable... More

The house is really interesting with plenty to see and there are many volunteers around if you have questions to ask. The carriage museum is fascinating with lots of different types of carriage on display. The grounds are extensive with plenty of places to walk. The formal gardens & kitchen gardens are well kept and a pleasure to see.

Everything was great, from the food to the house tour, the museum and the lake walk. Value for money lunch with some of the ingredients actually grown within the victorian walled garden on the grounds. Staff friendly, helpful and informative. Got there at 11.30am and stayed until 6.30pm, did not want to leave.

Decided to visit Arlington Court as grandparents with young grandchildren (and a dog) as we had too much sun on the beach the day before. I was suprised, it was really good day out. Didn't go into the house because we had the dog with us, but the Carriage Museum, gardens and grounds kept us all occupied. Cream teas in... More

The speakers coach is splendid. The gardens are beautiful and the food is typical National trust.A excellent place to spend a morning or afternoon but not enough to do for a full day.

I felt that as 255 folk had read my report on the dreadful experience at Knights Hayes, I wanted to formally contrast this with our lovely time here at Arlington. The staff were lovely and so very helpful and as a professinal in a similar field it is NO surprise that such a good experience reaps rewards on both sides... More

My wife and our friends whilst staying in Shirwell, Barnstaple in North Devon, visited the National Trust estate at Arlington Court. Together with visiting the Carriage Museum was for us a highly recommended day out. The grounds alone are so beautifully kept and whilst we had the benefit of lovely warm sunshine during our visit had the opportunity to explore... More

Started with lunch in the tea rooms which was gorgeous, we had the lamb burgers, so filling! Beautiful wonder around the house and carriages, looking forward to a return visit to finish the gardens and walks
