If your a fan of Heritage, Lawns and all round old fashioned good fun then there is little left to the imagination with this national trust site. In many ways it's the Downton Abbey of abbeys, if you want to find out why don't just (national) trust this review and go along for yourselves. If you pardon the pun!

The royal Golden carriage is spectacular- properly Disney ish!! The cafe was not that big. The pond dipping activity was great for kids and the trail was popular. The carriages are really interesting - especially for children studying Victorians etc!

Visited with two children aged 7 and 4. We walked around for about two hours and the children were entertained the whole time. Lots of little outdoor bits for the kids to play on. Kids loved the ropes and trees to climb on. Bird watching bit was another plus. There is a stream so beware if you have small children.... More

We went on a quiet Sunday, late in the season and were greeted warmly and well looked after by all of the NT Volunteers. The house was decorated for Christmas - which made a difference to the overall appearance. Iwas intrigued by the curved front door - which is unique (in my experience of National Trust properties).

This trust property only has access to the rooms on the lower floor via a ramp at the back. The stables where the carriages are situated are on two floors and are fully accessible as there is a lift. The gardens and grounds are mostly accessible there are large a few places that are quite steep to push up. This... More

Plenty to walk around, around 2 mile round walk which takes around 2 hours at a strolling place. Lots of different types of photographs to take; there is a birdhole where we saw robins, plenty of running water and small waterfalls and still a few flowers left before the cold weather sets in. Lots of tracks to follow but also... More

The house was interesting, loads of model boats, most from the Napoleonic Wars made by french POWs, Carriage museum brilliant, very absorbing, we took 3 hours to go round it, learnt lots. Outside, gardens were good, especially walled veg garden.
