Our second visit to Blackwell Arts & Crafts house and it was as beautiful as ever. The current exhibition is extremely interesting with such a array of beautiful items and paintings from the Arts & Crafts period. The tea room is also worth a visit, serving delicious food - their homemade Florentines are something else - totally scrumptious !

This may be our favorite attraction in the Lake District. The house is a lovely example of Arts and Crafts architecture with breathtaking rooms and tons of examples of Arts and Crafts designs in all media. The setting on a hill overlooking Lake Windermere is postcard perfect. Even the food in the Café is a cut above most museum fare.... More

Beautiful Arts and Crafts house and museum. Fantastic interior beautifully maintained. Plenty of well written, interesting information about the architecture, furniture, and artworks. You can wander around where you like, take pictures, and sit on the house's many window seats. There are no roped off areas, and no stuffy wardens. Nice cafe, shop, and outdoor areas with great views over... More

As a tour guide I have been to Blackwell on several occasions taking visitors to see the delights of a wonderful example of an Arts and Crafts house with its stunning views of Windermere. The house itself is stunning but its location, facilities, displays and cafe all add to the visitor's overall experience. Those I take to see the house... More

Didn't really know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The house is almost completely renovated and is an excellent example of 'Arts & Crafts' with many period artefacts.

Such a tranquil setting; and a fantastic shop! Glorious views of Windermere and loads of interesting things to see in the house, including an exhibition about the history of the house (including its use as a school in WWII).

We walked to Blackwell from Bowness--a viable but not charming walk. Blackwell is a beautiful property on a lovely site with a great view to Lake Windermere. Lunch was very good and they also have a nice shop. Interesting special exhibits as well as a well restored property.
