This fort has been restored over many years to a high standard, and is an ongoing project. The diarama style displays, constructed by volunteers, give clear explanation as to how the fort was constructed, the fort itself is impressive, we only spent 2 hours or so but could have easily spent 5 hours or more exploring.

With a little one I wasn't expecting much but accessibility is great and they have a game of counting mice as you go around which was just as much fun for me as it was for her.

We always go and visit the Nothe fort at least once during our stay and this year was no exception - they have added a couple of DVD films which are seriously interesting and go into the whole history of the fort and how it was brought back from a bit of a wreck to the site you see today.... More

My first time visiting and my husband's 2nd or 3rd..so I had no idea what to expect, especially when he told me about hunting mice! I had so much fun looking for the little plastic rodents hidden around the fort and keeping track of the number we've seen. (At the end of your visit, tell the volunteers/staff how many mice... More

We started by making use of the very pleasant cafe for a late breakfast. The fort has exhibits illustrating the history of the fort and its uses from the Victorian to New Elizabethan periods with much to both entertain and educate all age groups.

Great day out here with plenty to see and do. A labyrinth of tunnels under the fort take you on a real trip through time. The views were spectacular. We had lunch here too which was very reasonably priced and generous in portion size. At the entrance hall the staff were more the happy to give us a potted history... More
