Who would know about the wonderful RSPB reserve in the centre of a busy seaside town. Just a few minutes walk from the crowded beaches you can have a quiet, easy walk and see some rare wildlife at the same time. Just use your senses to smell the flowers, hear the birds and if you have time and patience you... More

This must be one of the most accessible RSPB reserves in the UK - a short walk from the station and buses, and with a large car park right next door. This is a wetland reserve, with well-kept paths giving views of the lakes and reedbeds. It is famous for bearded tits and Cetti's warblers, but on the day that... More

We sort of stumbled upon this place by accident but I am so glad we did. The car parking was cheap and to my amusement as soon as we got out of the car a duck came waddling up like it was the welcoming committee. It even showed me to the front door bless it. I went inside and they... More

At least once a month we go to RSPB hut and my husband my grandson Daniel who is 2 years old and myself have a drink and either a ploughmans or Apple cake and cream very reasonably priced and yummy. There is plenty of little activities for toddlers and a huge glass window where they can watch the birds swimming... More

We are frequent visitors and love this place at all times of the year. Friendly and welcoming, somebody is usually on hand to help with tricky bird identifications or you can just enjoy a pleasant walk around the Lake while the madness of the Weymouth traffic system surrounds you. Good snacks available too.

Such a variety of birds here. We went on a Bat walk which was excellent. Learnt so much about bats and then out with the bat detectors. A wonderful way to spend an evening there. Dan is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
