Birds

My partner and myself had a drink whilst watching the birds, then bought some food from the shop to feed them.

Radipole Lake is an ideal place to watch loads of different species of birds whilst they swim around the rushes. There are platforms which extend out into the lake where you can sit and watch. Also there is the most adorable coffee house in the corner of the car park. We regularly go there to have a coffee or hot... More

Very acceptable if you are in Weymouth without your own transport as it's only a short way from the centre of town. It has good paths through the marsh and reedbeds and lots of potential for spotting lots of birds and wildfowl

Nice to see the different birds and nice visitors centre, there is a lot to learn about the wildlife here.

Was looking for somewhere to take my mother-in-law out for the day, when I rang Radipole Lake Nature Reserve and they could not have been more friendly and helpful. We arrived there on 27th December 2014. What a lovely place, we sat and watched the birds from a viewing window and then took a walk around the lake, then came... More

The recently re-thatched Visitor Centre is well located on the reserve and provides coffee and cakes and much more. Great for kids and nature activities including pond dipping. It has a viewing window out onto the lake and reed beds with the usual access to telescopes and excellently informative and attentive staff. The Reserve itself provides a lovely walk with... More

We enjoy a bit of peace strolling around the reserve, its close to Weymouth with all the hustle and bustle lovely to relax and view the birds from the hides. A nice visitor centre and plenty of parking

We didn't know it existed until we went to weymouth Thursday market in swan car park. You see a thatched house which is the RSpb reserve. You can purchase food to feed the birds. We saw swans, ducks, a heron, dragon flies. We walked the path but didn't do it all, and it's free! Apparently there is a hide there... More

I have been going to Radipole lake on average, once a month for the last 10 years. The insect life and orchids (late May and early June) are good but the birdlife fails to astound. Lots of coot, mallard, gulls of various types and cormorants everywhere. Yes there are bittern, marsh harriers and long tailed tits but these show stoppers... More
