THERE are some attractions you can visit which seem to sooth the soul. Bennetts Water Gardens is one of those places. This eight-acre site may look nothing like an industrial wasteland, but that's what it was when it used to provide clay for Chickerell Brickworks. That history, interestingly recorded in a little musuem in the main building, saw water lilies... More

I hate sounding negative but, in terms of value for money, this is the worst by far. The price was around £8.50....and for that sum, we got to walk around a few lakes, with some Monet-type wooden bridges (most in need of touching up). Frankly some of the paths, right along the water's edge , were very dangerous and anyone... More

Delicious home made homemade coffee cake and coffee.Friendly helpful service from one of the Bennett families wife. We wandered around the gardens which are gorgeous but need a sunny day. Wonderful gardens. We had the gardens virtually to ourselves as it was very early in the morning.Would like to go back in the summer to see the water lilies when they are fully out but suspect we would have to share them with a lot of other visitors. Well worth a visit.

This is a nice but slightly overpriced cafe selling nice but average food. It is mainly good if you are planning on visiting their gardens. Their scones are very nice but again not the greatest value.

Between Weymouth and Chickerell is a beautiful little oasis of lakes with different water lilies and beautiful trees. Very relaxing place to walk, to take photographs but bit pricy to visit more than once.

This is an unexpectedly pretty garden with a series of large and small lily ponds set among a profusion of natural shrubs and trees. It makes for a pleasant afternoon stroll along the footpaths that loop around the ponds. Let me explain the "unexpectedly". We have been visiting family in this part of Dorset for many years and driving past... More

Built I believe on the site of old clay works this is a very pretty spot with over 140 different varieties of water lilies in a series of ponds spread over 8 acres. There was still quite a lot of colour despite the end of the season. Plenty of pleasing spots to photograph including the Monet replica bridge. A few... More

This extraordinary sign, with its two glaring mistakes, is in the tropical house through which the visitor walks to get to the main pond and its lovely water lilies display. The "Monet " look-alike bridge is quite picturesque and undoubtedly figures on hundreds of photographs of weddings and civil ceremonies. The main pond areas are well kept; the rest is... More
