I went with a group,of people from work to have a tour before we went out for dinner one night. We had an excellent tour of the minster itself and had all the parts that the public can normally see well explained to us. It really is a lovely minster. We were then taken up into the roof which made... More

This is an awesome building, and I was lucky enough to be attending a concert there during the Early Music Festival which was a wonderful experience. A great view and acoustics. Warm too! Volunteers manning the event were really helpful.

Very large church for this lovely small town. Wonderful building very large hence a Minster rather than a church. No entry fee which makes a refreshing change, donations suggested.

I have been 3 times now and I must admit the view of this stunning place never gets old. Always lots of people in there which is fabulous for donations and upkeep of the place. Never really sure when you should and shouldn't go though...I think we went on a day that there was some sort of mass Christening last... More

Lucky for me, I was given a tour of the Minster by a friend. Very interesting history is displayed within it's walls. A view of modern art is also present to display the continuity of the Minster and it's array of historic evolution of time.

We had a very enjoyable morning wandering about this church. The architecture, especially the exterior is amazing. Going around the inside, we happily paid for the photo permit and enjoyed every aspect of the church. The stewards/guides were very helpful but not over-powering (a common fault with some church guides.) It would be quite easy to spend several hours in... More

During a recent visit to Beverley we went into the Minster. Entry is free but well worth putting a little in the collection box at the end of your visit. The glass stained windows were amazing as was the lovely carvings. A must visit when in Beverley.

I am rarely in Beverley but try to visit the Minster whenever there is time. This last occasion I had the good fortune to come across the Minster's architect who has been helping to care for the building for 40 years or more. His love of the place was tangible and he gave me a sense of the original builders... More

Give York Minster, Westminster Abbey and St Paul's a miss....all packed and over priced. This is THE Minster to visit. Set in a quiet part of the Old town. Wonderful genuinely spiritual atmosphere which helps you imagine what it might have been like soon after it was built...and with some interesting tombs. Just wander round, sit down, savour and think.

Quieter and less crowded than York, and free to get in, although they'd appreciate a donation of you can give one. Finely-carved medieval tomb to the Percy family, and loads of quirky minstrels with their instruments. Also a moving inscription on a memorial slab, from a vicar leaving a message to his congregation.
