Fabulous dog walking, very peaceful and plenty of wildlife. About 2 hour stroll round upper lake. joggers and cyclists also using the path much to the disgust of my dog who hates anything with wheels. Plenty of water sports going on as well includng zorbing, sailing, canoeing.. Big campsite and car park. 2nd time we went we parked just inside... More

A bit hard to find but worth the effort. We went in the early evening and enjoyed a walk around the lake in the evening sunshine.

Weather could have been better, so did not really enjoy the outing as much as we might have given better conditions. The cafe was very good, a warm welcome with several items to take away to remember the visit.

Having been a member of the Friends of South West Lakes Trust for three years now (a great way to support the wonderful conservation work going on at all the SW lakes), I take advantage of free parking with my £30 p.a. subscription. Tamar Lake is my local... I visit at least once a week for walking/cycling and birdwatching and... More

Although it is well signed, the roads approaching (paricularly from the Devon side) are very narrow and in poor condition in places. However, the driveway to the upper lake is wide & smoooth, and leads to a well maintained car park overlooking the lake. There is a charge for the car park, but it's not unreasonable, particularly as the money... More

The walk around the top lake was great. We ignored the request to put the dog on a lead as did just about everybody else who were walking dogs. Car park charges are high.. Better to park down by the entrance as it's free. The walk along the canal via the lower lake is worth it if you want to... More

A morning walk around the top lake, this was after a walk around both upper and lower lakes last week Geocaching. This second walk was to do the missed cache at the top of the lake and to resume the hunt for the did not find on "tucked in Ivy!" Weather was cool sun but westerly wind to bring in... More

The café itself looked nice upon approach and did have a good stock of food/drinks however when I asked for my tea to be serviced in a teacup as opposed to a coffee cup I was told that wasn't what they did! Strange!

We have been to the Tamar Lakes a couple of times and it is slightly frustrating because it could be brilliant. You can do a nice gentle walk around the lakes which takes nearly an hour. The walk is flat all the way around and the path is well kept. There is a nice cafe at the end where you... More
