We have been to most of the reservoirs in the south west and I must say this one is probably the least appealing! After parking in the vastly overpriced car park, I was quite surprised that the coffee shop was closed considering the large amount of people out there on a sunny Sunday afternoon! I know it is winter but... More

The Lake, which is a reservoir, is set amongst very beautiful countryside. Surrounding the lake is a cinder path suitable for most walkers of any age starts across the dam and then continues for about 4 miles. There is so much to watch or join in. Apart from the usual wildlife the lake is popular with coarse fishermen. On the... More

A peaceful and relaxing place. Plenty of walk and cycle options. There are paths and good acess for these, and they vary in distance from a short walk from the car park to a full round trip. Clean tidy and beautiful. Nice coffee shop as well.

Fabulous dog walking, very peaceful and plenty of wildlife. About 2 hour stroll round upper lake. joggers and cyclists also using the path much to the disgust of my dog who hates anything with wheels. Plenty of water sports going on as well includng zorbing, sailing, canoeing.. Big campsite and car park. 2nd time we went we parked just inside... More

A bit hard to find but worth the effort. We went in the early evening and enjoyed a walk around the lake in the evening sunshine.

Weather could have been better, so did not really enjoy the outing as much as we might have given better conditions. The cafe was very good, a warm welcome with several items to take away to remember the visit.

Having been a member of the Friends of South West Lakes Trust for three years now (a great way to support the wonderful conservation work going on at all the SW lakes), I take advantage of free parking with my £30 p.a. subscription. Tamar Lake is my local... I visit at least once a week for walking/cycling and birdwatching and... More

Although it is well signed, the roads approaching (paricularly from the Devon side) are very narrow and in poor condition in places. However, the driveway to the upper lake is wide & smoooth, and leads to a well maintained car park overlooking the lake. There is a charge for the car park, but it's not unreasonable, particularly as the money... More

The walk around the top lake was great. We ignored the request to put the dog on a lead as did just about everybody else who were walking dogs. Car park charges are high.. Better to park down by the entrance as it's free. The walk along the canal via the lower lake is worth it if you want to... More

A morning walk around the top lake, this was after a walk around both upper and lower lakes last week Geocaching. This second walk was to do the missed cache at the top of the lake and to resume the hunt for the did not find on "tucked in Ivy!" Weather was cool sun but westerly wind to bring in... More
