Owner description: Bude Sea Pool is a beautiful tidal swimming pool on the beach at this popular seaside town in North Cornwall. The Sea Pool is part-natural and partially man-made. It was created in the 1930s under the cliffs on Summerleaze Beach, within easy strolling distance of the town centre, to provide safe bathing in sea water, but away from the dangerous currents in the bay. It is topped up at high tide by the Atlantic Ocean. The spacious Pool provides plenty of room for paddling or serious swimming: inflatables, snorkels surfboards and even scuba divers are welcome – just be considerate of other users, please. The Sea Pool is open throughout the year and is FREE for all to enjoy. Lifeguards are on duty at peak times. Children must be accompanied at the Sea Pool at all times.

I learnt to swim in Bude Sea Pool over 50 years ago and its still helping kids in the same way. Its popular with visitors and locals alike and we are very lucky to have it and it must be one of the only pools of its kind left and its free.

I love swimming in this pool, it's about 90 metres long so even a couple of lengths are worthwhile. The Friends of the pool (FOBSP) have done a fantastic job since they took over from the County Council, and they need our ongoing support!

Having used this pool on and off since the late 1950's its still not lost its charm and pleasure if it was else where in europe they would be shouting from the roof tops about it. Yes its cool to cold but the fun of being in it makes up for all of that. So try it out and enjoy... More

The seapool is situated just above the beach & is a fantastic facility. The Council closed it down due to health & safety concerns(!) but it was taken over by local residents & today is flourishing. Alas, we didn't have our swimsuits with us when visiting Bude but our friend, who we were staying with, went in fully clothed! Bude... More

Have been visiting Bude and the sea pool for years and love it. Even when the tide is out you can swim here and it is is safe. it has recently been updated and is even better. This is a treasure to be preserved forever

A lovely idea. ideal for kiddies getting use to the sea, especially if the sea is a little rough. But also very good if you want a swim in the sea but are too frail to take going into the sea anymore. You get the views, the fresh sea water but the tranquility of a swimming pool. it is long enough... It was cool, a good focal point for many young and old. I like that it was right next to the beach, so when my girl mate was chilling at the pool I could go surfing then come in and hang with her and still watch the waves.

I have been bought up with this sea pool. It's ideal for those who are scared of the sea but want to go swimming.
