You really can make a full day out at Saltwell Park. We visited yesterday - 2 adults, 3 children, 1 dog - and there was something for everyone. Great play areas. Lovely walks. Something for everyone,lake with ducks and swans to feed. Childrens play areas galore. Squirrels who love peanuts. Rose garden and crown green bowling. Lots of open space to picnic or play with the kids. Cafe in a fairytale castle. No entrance fee.

My wife had been telling me for years we should go here and finaly at the weekend we did. Play parks for children excellent and the road train makes a lovely addition when it is running (school holidays, weekends, bank holidays as I understand). If you're in the Gateshead are don't miss the chance to visit this beautiful park. No matter what the season this park is well worth a visit. What a lovely place to go with your family . Great surroundings , nice play area for the kids , good boating lake , & a little further in a cafe . What more could you want .

This is a great park to walk around with lots of attractions for children and a cosy café for a cuppa or a lite bite.

Beautiful grounds, huge fields to play on,basketball court as well. Big park for bigger ones which was ok not loads in it, park for little ones has a sand pit in which my little one enjoyed.
