I lived near Saltwall Park for over 6 years and loved having such a beautiful place on the doorstep. In the summer it was great to chill out after work when the evenings were bright and watch the sun go down. It was also my sanity when I took a break from work and used to walk for hours exploring... This is a lovely park one of the best in the country. It was nice going down memory lane as I used to come here in my lunch break from school in the 50's. There is a great lake to walk around and a childrens play area with swings etc. There is also a pets corner to visit and the... More

I've always loved it, the doves and peacocks, beautiful gardens, lake, nice to walk around. However, a good part of it is on a hill, just so you know if you've got problems walking or wheelchairs etc

I regularly go here because I'm a radio controlled boat enthusiast and love to sail on the lake here. But I also go because the place is beautiful. Its a large park with lots to see and do. Its got a lovely cafe at Saltwell Towers, has a rose garden, some animals, a maze, a doggie play area, kids play... More

We spent an enjoyable warm spring afternoon in the park which was busy with families enjoying the sunshine. We enjoyed visiting the pets corner and having afternoon tea sat in the sunshine. We thought the food was excellent and great value too!

As a resident of Gateshead, I visit the park on a regular basis and, as such, it is easy to become complacent and to take it all for granted. It is a vast, well kept urban park with fascinating and quaint Victorian architecture which has a wide appeal no matter what the season. As a local amateur artist, I often... More

A wonderful park with something for everyone. Boating lake ( boats for hire in the summer) two exciting adventure playgrounds. Pets corner, Bowling Greens, Tennis Courts and outdoor gym. Plenty of room to play foot ball, hide and seek, and even sledging ( when it snows). The park has a collection of interesting sculpture and a well established maze. All... More

This is one of the best parks I have ever visited and the cafe is excellent. I love the walks round the park and the boating lake. Nothing I dislike.
