What an excellent , modern and fully functional footbridge . Pity that there was no river traffic during our visit as it would have been an awesome sight to see the bridge raised. Watch out for cyclists when crossing as it's a shared space and they don't dismount .

This bridge is very unusual and is well worth the short walk, from the city centre, to walk across it. If you are lucky you could see it in operation which is quite amazing. It can only be used by cycles or by walking and has some seating in the middle.

Sat outside the Picher & Pianio bar saw the bridge tilt to let a sailing ship through very impressive the way they cleared the bridge of people quickly so they could then tilt it.

The Millenium bridge is great day or night. It's lit up at night and changes colour. The reflection in the river is lovely. Take a moment to stop and sit on the bridge and enjoy the views of he Tyne bridges.

The bridge is simply majestic by day and beautifully lit at night. A must see if you're in the region.

Whenever I visit Newcastle I appreciate all the bridges and can't decide which is my favourite - this is wonderful at night with the changing colours, and is especially worth seeing open

A beautiful bridge which helped to open up the Baltic Square part of Gateshead Quays when it opened at the turn of the millennium. Previously, navigation bollards where positioned in the Tyne to ensure that passing boats followed the central line under the bridge (you can still see these in many older photographs of the bridge). The removal of these... More

An icon of the North East and it really is a beautiful sight to see, especially when lit up on a night time.
