It was there and had lots of walkways around it along the river. Very festive that night. They were preparing for the run and had lighting and stalls but this was a special occasion

Sorry... bad joke. Nice footbridge... looks great lit up at night. Wonderful engineering and a spectacle when it opens. A wonderful addition to the older bridges.

I have loved this bridge from the day I saw it put into place. What a task that was - Like putting man on the moon in its complexity. If you want the effect of beeing slightly tipsy without he expense - simply walk slowly across the bridge when its windy, its wobbly in a pleasant sort of way. AND... More

The "Blinking Eye" bridge is for walkers, runners and cyclists, so safe, although given the speed of some cyclists you do need to watch your back sometimes. The bridge only opens once a day usually around 12.00pm, and unlike the London one, this does actually wobble sometimes. At night, the lights come on and looks good both close up and from... More

Looks great and really helps to make the Quayside an interesting place to see and be seen. But I dislike the way that SOME cyclists take little or no care when there are other users around and especially little kids. They think the bridge belongs to them!

A beautifull modern bridge which was being raised for river traffic as we arrived. Contrasts superbly with the iconic Tyne Bridge a few hundre meters away.

This bridge is an iconic feature of Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides. Beautifully lit once the sun goes down and seats to sit on to enjoy a tranquil moment overlooking the river Tyne.

We stayed in the Ramada Encore which is a 5 min walk from this bridge. Ideal for crossing to the Newcastle side. Riverside walks on both sides and a lovely sand pit and deck chairs on the walk.

Couldn't walk across this wonderful landmark as it was broken when we were there, we were told half an hour so had a coffee at the Baltic Museum cafe, an hour later we got directions from a guard to the next bridge and had to walk over that. Bit disappointed as we really wanted to take photos on there.
