What a spectacular building. Not only did we get to have a tour of the building we learned so much about the history too. All the children we took we aged between 6 and 14 they all had a fabulous time. All went away and wrote there own review for a scout badge. Thankyou for such a great tour. Highly... More

What catches the eye are the vivid and colourful stained glass windows. Most of the originals were replaced during the Victorian era, but some medieval glass survives in the western part of the minster. The Jacobean box pews are also a special feature worth seeing.

I was here Easter Monday to attend a wedding. Not only was it a lovely service but the church was beautiful. Lots of big stained glass windows and steeped in history. Everyone working there was very polite and helpful. I will definitely go back there with my camera to capture the craftsmanship and historic features.

Very beautiful minster, stained glass is amazing, really lovely place. Called in on a quiet Saturday afternoon and we were mesmerised by this wonderful old church.

All right, it's really St John's, or the Parish Church, don't know where the Minster bit came from (I believe Leeds Parish Church, the blackest hole outside Calcutta, is also a Minster now). But it's a big old church, wide, long, quite low, full of old bench-ends and monuments to local dignitaries, beautiful windows, a regimental chapel. And Old Tristram,... More

My husband I stopped off in Halifax on our way home to the Midlands and I was intrigued to see a sign for Halifax Minster, not having been aware that there was such a building. I'm so glad we did! It's a smaller Minster than most, so please don't be expecting York, however I actually have to say I prefer... More

Don't be put off by the filthy black exterior of this building. Perhaps they have decided that one building in this town should keep the filthy colour of years gone by, whilst all the others have seemingly been blasted back to their Cotswold stone (beige) colour, making the town´s architecture now a delight to view. Inside the church is a... More

Well it is a church so you would have to be into churches to enjoy a visit. It was recently elevated in status to a minster and has a regular programme of events throughout the year mainly pertaining to the arts. The architecture however is very interesting and you must not miss the gargoyles on the outside of the building

The Minster has an incredible atmosphere and is steeped in history. You can wander round on your own, but I can highly recommend an official tour and a visit up the Minster tower. It is a real hidden gem.
