Tucked away just away from the centre of Halifax is the Minster. A volunteer greeted me, handing me a free 'brief guide'...letting me wander. However, as I went up to chat I found she was a mine of information! This building is full of atmosphere and history...go and see for yourselves!

I visited Halifax Minster and had a guided tour by a very knowledgeable local man. He spent an hour guiding us round the church and pointing out everything of interest. Then he made us drinks and let me have a free postcard. This was the best church I visited in Yorkshire.

Thursday lunch time is a good time to visit. When I arrived an organist was practising Land of Hope & Glory and he was really enjoying himself with the wind up to the finale which he repeated several times. I could just picture my great great grandmother letting rip there too. Later there was an Organ Recital with coffee available.... More

We spent a fascinating hour last Friday morning visiting the Flower Festival to celebrate the Duke of Wellington's Regiment and the Bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo. The Minster interior had been transformed from its usual somewhat sombre atmosphere to a place of light and colour, from the many beautiful displays created by the Halifax Flower Club. Congratulations to all... More

Cold unfriendly, unless you are into local history. the only reason to visit. By the way ... it's NOT a Minster , it's a PARISH CHURCH!!

It's lovely to hear the bells ringing at the Minster. We attended a wedding here it was beautifully decorated and fabulous church that's over 900 years old and very well looked after.

Alighting from the railway station you might be forgiven for thinking that the elegant spire head of you is the minster. Wrong. The spire is the remains of an old chapel near the Piece Hall. The minster is the sooty little parish church down the rise to the right of you. A more unprepossessing minster it would be hard to... More
