Combine this with a visit to Jamieson's Mill at Sandwick and ask at the Hay's Dock museum to see the pattern archives which are based elsewhere in lerwick. if you can get to Yell,... More

My wife and I enjoyed our visit here. It's very small but the staff is very friendly. Some intersting stories about textiles in Shetland.

There was very little to see for your £2 entrance fee. The jumpers and lace were lovely but we thought we were actually going to see how the garments and rugs were made. We were only in there for 15 minutes as there was just 3 small rooms to look around.

The Bod is now a great textile museum housed in this historic building with some wonderful examples of Shetland lace and knitting. There is usually a couple of informative people knitting and spinning there who will answer your questions about Shetland textiles
