Agree with all that has been said Seals in the harbour More birds than you could ever want to sea Very knowledgeable skipper/guide who gave insights into the habits and life of birds Then they launched an underwater submarine which beamed pictures of under the water to a TV screen on board and all of this after we had been... In planning our visit to Lerwick we wondered why we had booked this trip as Seabirds and Seals probably wasn't high on our priorities but we are so very glad we did as it will go down in our memories as one of the best 3 hours we have spent during our vast travels.. The boat, Dunter III leaves from... More

This is a trip for those who are interested in birds and nature as well as spectacular views of the cliffs teeming with seabirds. The boat slows down to observe seals and look for otters. There is also a stop to drop an underwater camera for views of life under the sea. The captain gave an instructive commentary and was... More

This is a must for the nature lover. Dr. Jonathan Wills really loves his job. He is enthusiastic about what he loves. He points out all of the scenic sites and is an authority on seabirds. His boat is designed not to upset the wildlife and he is truly concerned with the environment. He is reasonably priced. Book way in... More

Wonderful trip with a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide (Jonathan). Seeing through a microscope just how much life is held in a drop of sea water was amazing - as were the views of larger life forms under the sea seen through the underwater camera. Above sea level, the bidrs and basking seals were a treat to see - especially... More

The UK's big seabird colonies are some of the worlds great wildlife spectacles and there can be few better ways to experience them than this trip. Not only does the boat take you very close under the spectacular cliffs of Noss National Nature Reserve but it also hides away in a big sea cave for half an hour while the... More

We enjoyed a lovely day trip with Seabirds and seals as the capstone on our Wildabout Orkney tour of Shetland. The guides were quite welcoming and knowledgeable. We were treated to a very interesting segment of the tour where the boat was moored in a sea cave and the guides deployed a mini sub equipped with a camera. We were... More

A really good trip - very informative and we saw lots of birds and seals. Also really good views from the underwater camera. Great insight into the local birds, seals and marine biology. Thanks very much.

You have to feel sorry for the competition (at least two other boats run similar trips out of Lerwick) - anyone would have to think twice about whether it's worth saving a fiver or so taking a punt on them when "Seabirds and Seals" is so well established, and so well reviewed. And with good reason - Jonathan is a... More

The boat wasn't huge which made the experience more intimate. You can sit inside on a cold day and still have views up to the cliffs as there is glass in the boat's ceiling. Rory was our captain - he was informative and had a sense of humour! We travelled around to the gannet colony which was wonderful to see.... More
