The atmosphere of the Great Central is amazing, I've been many times, and love the overall feel of the railway. It captures the atmosphere of a steam railway very well. One tip, don't try and park at Loughborough on busy days, Quorn is nearby, and has plenty of parking. Can't wait for when the line is reunified with the northern... More

If your in the Loughborough area and looking for something to do then a ride on the Great Central is worth doing. Check the timetable to see what trains will be run via steam. The staff were very friendly and helpful, all dressed up and looked the part. We took the return ride which gave you about 15 mins to... More

Beautifully authentically operated railway on double track with a superb fleet of steam locomotives. Had many visits over the years and it has a lot to offer. The dining trains in particular are very pleasant

Staff (all volunteers) were really lovely. The Journey was great and although a long walk into Leicester it was very pleasant. We didn't eat this time but the food looked great on the dining car and everyone left very happy

A great place to step back into time and experience th golden age of steam. The NAFFI tea shop under the road at the Quorn station is a must go to place to take overseas visitors and both young and old a like

We took are 2 children on the premium santa delux service. Well what a waste of money and very disappointing very poor presents. Pity full size drink and no entertainment as advertised. The extra time with santa was not there. I did email great central to complain about the poor service and I would like to give the award for... More

A fantastic pre Christmas day out with the whole family. Steam era nostalgia for the older folks and lots of fun for the kids. it looked to be a little expensive, but with a little tipple and mince pies for the adults and some real quality presents for all the kids it really is quite reasonable. Highly recommended.

We took the New Year's eve special dinner train this year. Staff were excellent and the meal was good, drinks to accompany it are all reasonably priced. The train plies up and down the line 3 times, and just before midnight stops in Leicester - from the platform, you can see multiple firework displays as midnight chimes. A fairly sedate... More

This is the 4th consecutive year that we have taken our grandchildren on the Santa train. Our granddaughters love it. It is very well organised, with lovely presents from Santa, a chocolate Father Christmas, a drink and a large cookie. Adults also receive a drink of sherry and a warm mince pie. The staff are all brilliant and even my... More
