Really can't fault this. This was our third visit on the dining train. We've visited several heritage railways and what the great central lacks in length of track, it more than makes up for with it's dining service. The food is always of excellent quality, the service brilliant and the drinks options are no more expensive than a pub. As... More

£15 each for adults, our under 2 yr old was free, we had a fab day out. Events were great, our little one loved it, as did we! The stations are lovely, like going back in time. The old suitcases and pushchairs etc that they have on display on the platforms make it very atmospheric. Some stations had old post... More

What a lovely treat! A perfect Sunday lunch on a beautiful old steam train, I couldn't ask for more. The staff were knowledgeable, very helpful and efficient and the food was amazing, especially considering everything is cooked on the train using the original equipment; no microwaves or modern catering kit, The only downside when eating on board is that there's... What a day out! Absolutely packed with super things to see and enjoy - apart from the great steam train rides! The wartime experience was a fascinating twist to the visit with so many in period clothes. We liked the way they handed over each station to a particular country. The axis forces 'man in a raincoat' going down the... More

What a great treat this is for anyone. We had a fantastic 5 course meal on board a delightful steam train. First of all the station takes you back in time, really gives the feel of a bygone era to get you in the mood for the train trip. The train has been lovingly restored to a very high standard.... My grandson loves steam trains and loved this themed outing. He met characters from Frozen and superheroes and villains. However the queue for face painting was too long for us to wait and the sandwiches at Loughborough cafe took 25 minutes to arrive. We could not get seats on the first train from Quorn. An excellent day out tainted by... More

We went on the half term Frozen Express from Loughborough station to Leicester North (Birstall) and back again. Managed to get a seat in a first class compartment was very nice on this fully packed train. The Frozen Express experience was very nice, with professional singers dressed up as Olav, Elsa and Anna who all stopped by each compartment for... More

This was bought for me as a birthday gift, full weekend package, 2 nights accommodation, breakfast and dinner included but best of all the murder mystery evening on a steam train. We had a great day exploring the rail network too, I would definitely recommended a weekend trip here.

This attraction is great for all ages, steam buffs as well as those not quite so knowlegeable. The museum and sheds at the Loughborough sidings are a must and so too are the coffee shops on Quorn and Rothley Stations.

We tend to visit the Loughborough Great Central station on gala days, both steam and diesel. We have also been fortunate enough to enjoy several murder mystery Xmas trips as well as Santa specials. Although somewhat weather dependant, the galas are always enjoyable events and visiting locos add further interest. Car parking can be a problem however, as the steam... More
