Turned up unplanned, friendly staff, steam & diesel locos to suit all bashers, reasonable fares, free spacious parking, food & drink at fair prices. Stations a real time warp and clearly cared for, a return visit beckons!

Seeing Morayshire was the main treat. Shame about the rain on the Saturday. The beer tent at Quorn was also worth a visit.

Excellent event - 9 steam locomotives working an intensive timetable over the weekend, through trains to Leicester, local services to Rothley + freight trains. Well worth going.

Friends booked a complete train with restaurant cars , bar and through carriages . Had three course diner plus buffet supper, food was good quality and served by friendly knowledgable staff. The train halted at a beauty spot so that we had a good view point for lunch. The staff really added to the day as they really seemed to... More

Lovely well kept engines, carriages and stations. We went while the beer festival was on so there was plenty to look at along he route. we even has an aerial display at one station. Friendly staff and reasonably priced food and beverages . We would definitely go again.

Evening trip for 4 of us on the Charnwood forester train, with a 5 course menu. From getting there it was like stepping back in time to a bygone age, the platform and all the people item you see are from years gone by, on board the train, we have a lovely table for 4, waitress service and a fantastic... Visited the railway with a group of friends. It was really interesting as they had a festival at Quorn where there were old vehicles, traction engines and best of all a fairground organ. That was something special. The Great Central offers a wide range of things, most important being a good alround journey. For those interested in trains- it has... More
