Small but great maritime museum which is well worth a visit where you can easily spend anything between 1-3 hours depending on your level of interest and age of any children. The curators are very friendly and knowledgable with a passion for the local maritime heritage. We have visited several times and each visit has been a pleasure. Highly recommended... More

Little gem of a museum. Excellent displays of the town's long history of fishing and the sea. Very knowledgable curators and showed me their original George Vempley Burwood paintings to me with pride(even more so when I pointed out I am a Burwood) Don't miss it if you are in the area.

Saw the museum as we drove past and decided to visit. Very glad we did as it was truly an excellent little museum with lots of information on the history of the fishing past of Lowestoft. Highly recommended.

It was a modest walk from the center of town. The film shows were interesting and informative. Great coffee shop nearby. very friendly staff and interested to add more detail to the exhibits.

The museum affords a really good introduction to fishing and maritime life generally in Lowestoft. It is modest in size and scale but lovingly maintained; the helper volunteers are very welcoming. There are very good cafes nearby in the park and there is plenty of parking.

Although this is a small museum it makes up for its small size by being packed full of exhibits and curated by very knowledgable volunteers. The films in the small cinema are particularly good and very atmospheric.

The models in this museum are outstandingly accurate, mostly made by one amateur from memory, photos and paintings. As an owner of a similarly rigged boat we learned a huge amount about the local rigs. Another gem is the contents of the workshop of Christopher Cockerell, inventor of the hovercraft. Some well edited videos and good collection of tools for... More

We visited this little museum on a whim, after walking from Gunton into Lowestoft, along the beach. There was so much of interest, packed into a little museum that was a bit like the'Tardis' - it just kept on going from one room into another!. Lots of original maritime paintings and models of fishing boats with a detiailed maritime history of Lowestoft.... More
