Visited here with my 2 young children - spent a lovely couple of hours exploring the castle & grounds. My 3.5 year old needed close supervision due to some steep stairs and potential drops! But thoroughly enjoyed his time running around the site. Beautiful location and surroundings. Best castle we've been too.

Had a few spare hours after paddling on the Wye and decided to explore the local area, Goodrich being the next closest village, found the Castle and must say it was a pleasant visit. Audio tour (free) gives a great insight into its history.

There are lots of interesting historical facts about the castle including Roaring Meg and the portcullis. You are free to wander throughout and the view from the top of the Keep is great up the spiral staircase.

There's so much of this castle to see that I'd say the audio tour is a must. It was excellent, and took me round the ruins in a very logical way. There's lots of interestng detail, particularly in the fortifications - the sites of the portcullises are clearly visible. The audio tour gives you the opton of hearing more about... More

Interesting semi ruined castle reasonable explanations via audio system (free) or notice boards. Charge for entrance to castle. Car parking and excellent tea rooms with some homemade cakes open seasonally. Village with pub nearby and looked to be pleasant walks in area. Good place to pay a visit for 2-3hours on a summers day.

Brilliant, everything a ruined castle should be. Plenty of access via usable stairs, would be goodfor energetic children. Lunch in cafe very good.

Not the most spectacular of ruined castles and having made my way to the entrance found cost to be £6.50 per person entry plus car parking, the place was empty, understandably so, didn't bother going in

Despite limited mobility I managed to visit all parts of this wonderful ruined castle. Not suitable for wheelchairs but everyone was very patient with my slow progress on the stairs etc. Excellent views, good audio guide. The shop & cafe staff were welcoming and helpful and the loos were spotless. Large car park. Can recommend wholeheartedly.

If you like history, then you'll like looking round this ancient monument. The aural commentaries were very helpful and give the visitor a fuller experience as they help to set the scene as you investigate each part of the castle.
