This is not the National Gallery or the Louvre. Come on, it's Wolverhampton. Don't expect a Picasso or a Rembrandt or a Da Vincci. There is only a limited collection if paintings but I have always loved being there. No big crowds, so if you are looking for a few moments of solitude in the company of some reasonably interesting... More

Visited late on a Saturday afternoon. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Gallery is ultra modern behind an imposing Victorian facade. We came to see the Pop Art and were not disappointed. There was a special exhibition showing the origins of the collection and my daughter and I loved what was on display - and how it was displayed. We... More

A lovely, friendly gallery with interactive displays and diverse range of workshops. The art isn't bad either.

I took my 3 year old daughter to visit the gallery and she absolutely loved it, as did I.The staff are extremely friendly and the gallery is laid out very well. My daughter enjoyed trying on the hats and wigs. I will definitely be returning soon.

The building alone is worth visiting. The architecture is fascinating and beautifully maintained. The permanent displays are thoughtful and well worth a slow browse. The touring exhibitions are inevitably thought provoking. The current BP Portrait Award is not to be missed. The cafe is great, the shop has some beautiful items for sale, and Amanda in the shop was so... More

Bob and I decided to visit Wolverhampton Art Gallery, for the sole purpose of seeing the BP Portrait Award 2013 exhibition, which is there till 14 June. We usually see this annual show in London but missed it last summer. We had no idea what delights would await us in Wolverhampton! The Gallery is a Victorian building with the usual... More

A new and an old part, the 19c rooms particularly well arranged and the art sympathetically displayed. The modern parts white and trying to be too trendy. Crowded cafe. In interesting city, next to the Parish Church - well worth a visit.

This is one of the best art galleries there is. FREE and they have such wonderful exhibitions and involvement with the public. The cafe has beautiful food and the hot chocolate is my favourite drink. Last year I was invited to attend some group sessions with an artist and a play writer. It was centred around the Ron Mueck exhibition.... More

This gallery is London standard with a world class pop art collection. Challenging exhibitions by international artists are a regular feature. The curators choose imaginative exhibition programmes.

The ground floor stuff (history of the venue) makes for a rather parochial and uninspiring start to a walk around; but upstairs it improves. There's sculpture, some photographs, some pop art and some Victoriana - so a fair mix. Café too. Trip Advisor has mis-categorised it as a shopping venue - it really is an art gallery
