The first thing we noticed when visiting this gem of a place was the friendly staff in the entrance booth, Andy was the most helpful, smiling and charming NT representitive I have ever met. He clocked us in and told us all about the family activities that were happening on that day (a real find NT, keep him) The house... More

Owned by the National Trust, this house contains an important and impressive art and porcelain collection. Once the property of Lord and Lady Bearsted, it's easy to see what the millionaire liked to spend his money on. The house itself is not of particular note but enjoy it's contents. The gardens are a delight. There are many fine trees and... More

We visited this National Trust property on 2nd November and were very impressed by all we saw. Upton House was the country retreat of Viscount Bearsted and was also used to house his impressive collections of paintings and porcelain. What's refreshing about this property is one can wander around freely as though one was a guest staying at a country... More

A very interesting and comfortable family home with a wonderful collection of art and porcelain. The gardens were extensive and had very well laid out and productive terraced vegetable gardens.

Living only 4 miles away it's too easy to miss such a gem but with the good old NT card we pop up all too regularly for a wander round the gardens, chat to the volunteers and leave feeling rested.

Great gardens terraced within a secluded valley, kept up to a high standard. Lovely for romantic walks and family outings. Inside the house a series of fascinating artefacts connected to the original owners, who were connected to the Shell Oil and Gas Company. All in all, a weekend country retreat; a house that has never been fully-occupied year-round.

We visited Upton House & Gardens which belong to the National Trust and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were greeted by very welcoming staff who were very helpful. We were given a short talk about the house before we looked around and it was full of lovely paintings and china. The grounds were beautiful and were very well laid out, the... More
