Small but well thought out, this museum is free to enter and worth climbing the hill for! Plenty of exhibits. Keep you busy for a couple of hours.

Before we discovered this treasure trove we were feeling very disappointed with our visit to Buxton. (The recession still bites deep here and it shows). As we made our slightly breathless entrance to the Museum, we were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome. We were given a succinct explanation of what was on display and then left to... More

Lots of old photo's of how Buxton used to be, a very prosperous town many years ago, lots of big old buildings. Some sadly ie: the crescent and pump room have fell in the disrepair, and seem to be getting neglected. These are in the heart of the town.

We were astonished by this museum. Buxton is only a small Derbyshire town yet it has this little gem tucked away. We called in to escape some rain but ended up spending a good two hours in there and returned for more. Do include it in your itinerary.

This art galley and museum are defiantly worth a visit when you visit Buxton. When we visited they had a really good exhibition by a local artist as well as a very interesting museum of local Derbyshire history. The only drawback is that they don't sell cards of there art. Nice art gallery and friendly staff.

The husband and I spent a good hour exploring this fascinating free museum on our first visit to Buxton. I loved all the stain glass windows and black marble. The staff were very helpful. The art exhibitions were good and the toilets clean. We will return with the grand kids as its set out nice and very educational

Not being a great lover of Art I found that there were only two parts of the museum that really interested me (Victorian study/Wonders of the Peak). The Wonders of the Peak time tunnel takes you through the ages and is well worth a visit.

Although difficult to access for some, as the museum lies on a hill, it has a disabled access and lifts upstairs. The Art exhibits are delightful and the array of artefacts and history very interesting. A lovely place to visit when sheltering from the rain!
