Toddler goes here all the time with Grandparents and both loves / hates the bear!! The childrens facility and cushions seem to have gone missing ? Shame as that was really useful.

I wouldn't make a special trip just to visit the Buxton museum but if you are in the area, you should call in and have a look around, the museum is well run and has some interesting exhibitions. We have a couple of Nieces who are interested in rocks, so they like it a lot.

This small musuem and art gallery based in the heart of the beautiful town Buxton is worth a visit. It's not fancy and is void of any involvement from the world of technology but it displays interesting artefacts from the local surroundings. It is currently showing some fantastic artwork from local school children (some who will have interesting futures ahead).... More

Enjoyed a brief visit on a wet day when there was little else to do. There was plenty to keep my two boys entertained and they even spent a bit of pocket money in the reasonably priced shop which sells an array of gemstones and fossils. Took just under an hour, but free, so great value!

I took my children for a walk around this Museum to escape some rainy weather in September 2014. I really never knew the place was there until recently. Even though i have visited Buxton for ten years. We walked into a huge foyer which had one big desk in the middle and a few random items around it. A police... More

i visit buxton at least once a week and perhaps visit the gallery once a month. always something different an exciting to find. as for the exhibitions, they are first class. often three at the same time. i also visit chester art gallery, which could learn a thing or two about exhibiting from buxton. buxton is blessed with cultural venues.

A rainy Friday in Buxton. Went in not expecting too much, downstairs is a collection of photos of Buxton in the last 100 years, the ladies and gents in their finery. All good so far. The real surprise is upstairs, there is a Journey Through Time, via a series of narrow passages and rooms. You can see fossils from sabre... More
