A museum concentrating on the area and its history. Very good exhibition of the Peak District both from a geological perspective and its industrial heritage.

The museum is in dire need of a makeover and a clear vision of what it is about. A hotch potch of artefacts, displays and exhibitions. Not cohesive and no guides printed on paper, or information available for foreign visitors. The staff on duty were not helpful nor appeared interested

The museum was packed full of very interesting styles of art work including children's art work as young as 5! The museum housed some fabulous displays that were both educational and very interesting.

It's not very large but packed with so many interesting specimens and facts of the area. And I bumped into Chris Packham last time I was there which was a nice little bonus!

Some museums can be a little dry and dusty, especially for younger visitors. This is not one of them. A real treat for young and old alike. In my opinion, it is a must visit.

A small museum but a great place to visit. They've really included lots for small children to enjoy - rubbings, puzzles and a grizzly bear that I've seen wearing a bonnet at Easter! Very interesting artefacts, the gallery is worth a look even if art isn't your thing. They've made excellent use of the space they have. You can't spend... More

A nice museum giving a look at the district through the ages. You need time to read all the bits and pieces as well as looking time. They have disabled access via a stair lift.

This was my second visit in the last 10 years and it was just as good as I remembered. The museum is full of interesting local history with beautiful displays to look at. The Art Gallery is also a joy with paintings and sculptures from local artists and children's pictures from local schools. Well worth a visit.

We called in here after a disappointing literary event at the Festival. What a find ! Really nice staff and some joyous art on display .Recovered what would have been a very disappointing afternoon.
