We recently visited the Opera House and were impressed by the condition of this early 1900's theatre. Well maintained and run by polite, helpful staff who take a pride in keeping the old place alive. A superb venue.

We travelled to Buxton to see a musical show having booked very easily on line. The theatre is beautiful and views from the circle were excellent. The sound and lighting was spot on as was the show itself. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. My only, very minor, complaint was that a light over the auditorium stairs was... More

Seen several plays and performances and always blown away by elaborate decoration of place and ambience of the place, no matter what you go and see it will always be a special experience to visit the opera house.

Good venue, always enjoy when we go. Shame about idiots that park outside on yellow lines and block your car in!

We have been here on several occasions and it has always been a lovely experience. The theatre is so beautiful and not too big so the performances are very intimate. The best part of the theatre is the team of volunteers who really look after you and are so polite and helpful. They work so hard. I would recommend this... More

I went here last night to watch Rumours of Fleetwood Mac (who were excellent by the way). The venue was full of charm and atmosphere. The seating was very good and on the back row dress circle we had an excellent view. The bar was a bit grotty and in need of a spruce up. Not much choice and bottle... More

My boyfriend & I went to see Sherlock Holmes & the Ripper Murders by Talking Scarlet productions as we'd been wanting to see a play for ages & I saw this advertised and suggested it. The website wasn't the easiest to navigate in booking tickets, however the performance itself was brilliant ! A play makes for a refreshing change to... More

We went to a matinee performance of Dial M Murder. The building is certainly iconic, but it was cold so could do with some sort of heating. I'm sure that the play was good, it would have been better if we could hear what they were saying, this must have been mentioned during the interval because in the second they... More

Iconic venue which caters for all tastes and ages. From Pantomime to international music stars and comedians. Along with the Pavilion Arts Centre the list of names appearing range from John Cooper Clarke and Turin Brakes to Lulu and Paul Carrack. The Opera House is a classy, compact venue with great acoustics for music and theatre productions. Worth checking the... More

We watched a pantomime here. The performance was excellent and lots of fun. The building is beautiful. Not too large but traditional. We were in the upper circle seats and had an excellent view of the stage. Would recommend it for theatre goers.
