The museum is an interesting little collection of local artefacts, pictures and news. There are displays telling the story of Chepstow and how it grew over the years. You can learn more about the building itself which has been used a a school and a hospital previously. Upstairs there are some interesting paintings and some random displays which add to... More

A lovely museum run by excellent staff with a sense of humour. A fabulous gift shop crammed with lots of unusual gifts etc.Hubby surprised and pleased to see some exhibits by Turner in this small museum. As like all local museums a chance to expand on your history of the area and to see fascinating historical photos.

Worth going to just for the gift shop but there is a lot more to it than that. Plus it's free - what's not to love?

This is a real community museum with a substantial number of volunteers running or participating in its up keep, and is well thought out. The enthusiastic staff help give an excellent insight into this border town and its environs. Amongst the most notable exhibits is the art collection/ exhibition concentrating, when we visited, on the Landscapes of the Wye valley... More

We visited the museum, as there was an art exhibition showing some works by Turner, and other renowned artists. We were very pleasantly surprised by the rest of the artefacts and displays on offer. Local history and prominent people, a first world war display, cabinets which were filled with interesting memorabilia. And another plus was that it was free to... More

We were amazed that we hit the Museum when they had a temporary exhibit of Tintern Abbey prints, so it made the visit really worthwhile.

Near to the castle, so its worth popping in to see the progression of Chepstow from a castle and abbey to a thriving ship building center. Good art exhibitions and special events.

very nice exhibition of paintings of Tintern Abbey - including several by Turner. The pictures showing how Chepstow developed over the centuries was fascinating.
