Loch of the Lowes is so well set up and brilliant for young children and families with a viewing area and ranger to help identify birds. The bird hides are fitted with scopes which is brilliant for travelers from overseas. There are also lots of pleasant walking trails and a walking track into the village of Dunkeld

Excellent reserve, helpful and enthusiastic wardens, modern hides with good views over the loch and the main hide is open 24 hours. Visited twice, with clear views of ospreys on both occasions. But the highlight was on the evening visit when at about 8.30 a beaver appeared on the far side of the loch and swam towards our hide. It... More

Walked to Visitors Centre from Dunkeld, lovely walk well sign posted. Loved watching the garden birds which included siskins, woodpeckers, chaffinches and ducks at feeders. No sign of the squirrels. Went to outside hide, lovely views of osprey nest and grebes trying to build nest along with the ducks and swans. Also the beautiful dragonfly. Worth a visit if you... More

Loch of Lowes Run by Scottish Wildlife Trust, excellent place to visit. We saw osprey nesting, from the two nearby hides. In the Visitor centre we saw close up live pictures of the nest. We were able to watch red squirrels feeding from the observation window in the Visitor centre. Helpful and pleasant staff (volunteers). Car park nearby, easy access,... More

Wow what a nice experience watching al the wee birdies feeding. Amazing selection of birds and something therapeutic about just watching their antics. Really should come and see the ospreys but am fortunate to have them feed near where I live.

I have mobility difficulties usually needing one or two sticks to help and this was somewhere that I didn't expect to be able to access this place as well as I did, which was really nice! We visited here on a showery, misty sort of day - disappointing for mid June. The osprey pair were not enjoying the weather much... More

This was our first visit to Scotland and we hadn't seen any red squirrells all week. This morning was torrential rain. We turned up at the reserve and our first nice surprise was a cosy warm clubhouse with great viewing area to lots of feeders. We stripped off the waterproofs and sat for a while enjoying a family of young... More

We visit the Loch of Lowes twice a year, walking up from Dunkeld and back again. It is a wonderful place to relax and watch the bird life and of course, the main attraction is always The Lady, who has been visiting for about 23 years. She , about two years ago, has a new "husband" a beautiful young osprey.... More
