Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve covers 98 hectares near Dunkeld. From early April to late August, the star attraction is a pair of breeding ospreys, which nest just 150 metres from our observation hide. Interactive displays help bring the story of Loch of the Lowes to life. Get closer to the ospreys with binoculars, telescopes and live video footage. Spot red squirrels, woodpeckers and other woodland birds from viewing windows. Our gift shop offers a range of wildlife-related gifts and souvenirs. Hot and cold drinks and light refreshments are available.

The centre is at it's most popular when the ospreys are hear between April and August but personally I always enjoy a visit. The visitor centre has a large window overlooking bird feeders so there are always plenty of small birds (finches, tits etc) to see. Red squirrels are also a regular visitor too. Nice coffee and chocolate is available... More

Called in to Loch of the Lowes recently but didn't go to the Visitors Centre as we had our dog. Went for a walk in the calm and stillness of the area. Met a nice lady (Cheryl) who updated us on the Ospreys. Lots of wildlife to be seen. Free car park and lovely clean area (apart from some cretin... More

We where going to walk from Dunkeld to the loch of the lowes. Glad we drove there first. Nothing there apart from the hide. Seems a lot of money for what's there. This is not dog friendly.

Thought we would see the ospreys but they had gone weeks before(No notice to that effect in the Car Park). One small indoor viewing area with bird feeders. Two outside hides(No walks)Not really worth the entrance fee.

We were pleased to see the three osprey chicks on the nest, one of which flew round the lake. The hide has telescopes to see the birds and a guide to explain what's happening, as well as TV close-up of the osprey nest across the lake.

Lovely to look at - we saw limited bird life. Can clearly be seen from the Lochside Restaurant and Spa

Loch of the Lowes has a visitor centre with a viewing window that looks out onto our bird and red squirrel feeding station. There is also a gift shop selling wildlife-themed gifts, birdcare products, hot and cold drinks and snacks. We do not however have a cafe or lochside spa. More
