This is aclassicbirdwatching spot. Seeing the Ospreys here is a bucket list must. Evenout of season it is a great place to go. We saw GoldenEye grebes dabchicks tree creepers and Sparrow Hawk. We only stayed an hour or so. Thank you to the staff as well especially coming to find us to see the sparrowhawk.

Visited here this afternoon with friends. We all feed the birds at home but our education was added to by the very friendly volunteer in the bird hide who then came into the main viewing area with us. There was snow on the ground and some icy patches in the car park but it was cosy inside and we were... More

We stopped off during the Christmas holidays, when the centre itself was closed. But we were still able to access one of the hides and look across this very lovely loch. The hides are well equipped with great photos of the landscape showing you where the ospreys can be spotted (at the right time of year). We walked along the... More

We had to tear ourselves away from here - the viewing hides for the loch give such great views over the water. although the ospreys had flown south, we were delighted to see a pair of great crested grebes and a juvenile, as well as various ducks and geese. The staff were great - as well as having a long... More

We knew that we were too late for osprey when visiting in September and were disappointed to hear that the pair had failed this year. We did however have the pleasure of seeing a young great crested grebe demanding food and being fed. Hopefully in the photo !. Always good to have a chat with the staff and catch up... More

We first came across Loch of the Lowes, (pronounced low, rhyming with cow), in 2005. We were lucky to be living in Scotland and visited every day for fourteen days, when the Osprey chicks were about to be born. The SWT centre has the usual merchandise on sale, but no food or drinks, so take your own. There is a... More

A family and friends trip there this afternoon. We saw lots of small birds ranging up in size to woodpecker and pheasant, but the majority were tits and finches - and a very uncocky robin; and we enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions of two young but knowledgeable staff. Some mute swans feeding on the loch, but it was a... More

Ospreys head south at start of august so just made it. Beautiful setting if a little awkward roads. Helpful, knowledgable staff

We really wanted to see the ospreys and made a special trip to Loch of the Lowes. There was a short walk leading away from the car park but it went nowhere near the loch or any views of it, nor was there any chance of seeing the ospreys. Because we take our dog wherever we go it also means... More

We were in the area and so dropped by the Loch of the Lowes and what a great few hours it was. We seen many different birds and a red squirrel! We also seen the Osprey nest and a Osprey flying over the Loch. The staff were fantastic and had plenty of time to chat to us and point out... More
