Intriguing paintings especially early 20th century ones, with interesting biographical information. I was impressed by the collection.

This is a good place to go and much, much better than I expected. The impressive staircase, the carefully presented artworks, the helpful and clear information boards, the good stuff for sale by local artists... excellent. The only reason I have given it a 4 star rating and not 5 is that one of the galleries was closed on the... More

Let's just put this place into context this is an Art Deco building which is worth a visit on its own. On a good day you can play chess outside. The building holds a huge library and reading room. The art is speed all around the building . Lots about the Luddites who destroyed the first looms in the industrial... More

I love this art deco building-- well I think it is that. I remember it from my childhood. I love the solidity and the central staircase that goes in two directions. The art exhibition was small and manageable-- so good for those who are not keen on spending hours looking at pictures. It is on the top floor. There are... More

Great place to stop and browse the books, newspaper, and the arts museum. Another good thing is that, htere are speakers coming in regularly and there are scrabble playing if you are interested. Overall a good community gathering place.

Perhaps it's something to do with being housed in the same building as the town's library that makes Huddersfield Art Gallery feel it can only talk in a whisper about what it has to offer? Slightly stuck away on the top floor of the building, I was really quite surprised that for the 45 minutes or so I was there,... More

Nice, tidy place but was disappointed about the genre of the art. Mostly, 20th century portraits which, to be honest, I like my art with a bit more vintage. Depending on your eye, there maybe pieces here you like

We really enjoyed looking at all the different art , there is quite a lot of steps up to the gallery .The rooms were much bigger than we expected. Definitely worth another visit.

We were having a wander round Huddersfield and came to the Art Gallery so decided to have a look in. There were some very nice paintings and some we wouldn’t have on our walls if given to us! There were a couple of Lowry paintings and also various sculptures, one by Henry Moore. There was an exhibition called Red Women’s... More

For a small gallery this has a good range of paintings, an interesting 'crafts for sale' section and often there's a good exhibition. You can also sit and have a hot drink now on comfy sofas just outside the gallery. You have to make your own with the machine but it's priced accordingly.
