What a brilliant day out we had with our 3 year old boy who loves Thomas & friends. There was a lot of activities going on at both Clayton West & Shelley, very well organised & lots of fun too, especially the tug of war game. Excellent day not to be forgotten & excellent value for money.

Big kid or little kid, it matters not you'll have a great time on the light railway. Our whole family, from 3 years to 64; all loved our trip on the little train. The only downside was the quality of food in the cafe but I've had worse, and it wasn't unpleasant - I just think they could do more.

We went on an easter trip from clayton west to shelly. It was great for the kids and lots to do. The kids loved the train ride and there is a buggy carriage so that you can take your pram along for use at the other end. The carriages were very hot but worth it.

We had our son's birthday party here in may 2013, and all the kids loved it. Good value for money. The only thing that let it down was the first party host (before theygot on the train and had the second party host at the other end) was a bit quiet and could have done a bit more to liven... More

Great family day with young kids, my girls loved it. The train ride is about 20 -25 mins to shelly station then back when your ready. Nice safe play ground for the kids and bouncy castle at each end. Have a look in the show houses if you can they are amazing - wish I could afford one....

I cannot say how much I was impressed by everything at Kirklees Light Railway. Took my grandson for the Thomas special weekend and it was brilliant. The staff, all volunteers, could not have been more attentive and knowledgeable, especially the young man on the till who went beyond to help me find taxis/restaurants etc.
