Remarkably, though living less than 15 miles away, we had not heard of Stockwood. The centre is a superb resource for the people of Luton, Bedfordshire and nearby Hertfordshire. It has gardens, play areas, sports pitches, an event/meeting venue, a museum of local history, a gallery of historic vehicles - carriages, cars, buses, hearses and many others and a good... More

Overall I would say this very good, but what is there to see, well to start with there are the ornamental garden from Stockwood house (now sadly demolished) there is also a large collection of carriage horse and buggies stage coaches, (it is a little like the transport museum in Hull) there was a collector who put them together and... Great for children & adults. It's free which is always a bonus. I would advise taking a picnic though as the cafe can work out expensive.

Fantastic afternoon plenty to see and learn. Gardens brilliant and cafe good. On a sunny day ideal as there are plenty of benches to sit on and enjoy surroundings. If you went on a rainy day there is so much history to absorb in the different galleries that the weather would not be a problem

Excellent trip for families. Lots for the children, story corner and play activity centre. Interesting motor museum of transport from times gone by which children of all ages seem to enjoy. Cafeteria not cheap.

So much to see about Luton history and a lovely tea room. Entrance is free which is amazing considering what is on offer. We spent a few rainy hours enjoying the transport exhibit and when is]t cleared we walked the grounds. There is a lovely gift shop that is well priced and well stocked

Our visit to the Disvovery Centre in Luton was both amazing and exhilarating. There was parts of the visit that was like going back in time with historical relics of Luton's past. The wonderful collection gave the family a sense of history and belonging. The gardens are well landscaped and the plants groomed to perfection. Finishing off in the tea... More
